LABRYANT is a SparkPeople Motivator!
Welcome to my page. My name is Lynn, but most people call me "LB". I live in a suburb north of Atlanta, GA. My journey:
Unlike a lot of folks, I didn't grow up 'chubby'. I've never been overweight until I hit a "certain age" and then KA-POW, seems the weight just packed on...and on and on. At my heaviest 2 years ago, I weighed 170 and I'm just not built to carry that much weight.
Losing is a constant struggle for me as I can't seem to understand that I just can't eat anything I want whenever I want, like I did growing up. Maintaining constant focus is hard and as you can see from reading my updates below, it has been an up & down affair. BUT, I have a vision in my head of the person I want to be and what I want to look like and that's my steady goal. :D
I am now a licensed Zumba Fitness Instructor!!! Yay!
Still rocking & rolling. I've been sick for quite a few weeks in a row and I've been on steroids & not able to work out. That has really bummed me out. I've gained a few pounds but I've got determination. I am still dancing, still hiking, still canoeing, still mountain climbing, still "adventuring". If I take my pulse right now, all in all: life is good. I have not YET done my last cartwheel!
UPDATE: 9.20.16: I have gained all my weight back and lost it again. That's the good news. I was been diagnosed with DCIS, Breast Cancer on 9.1.16. That's the bad news. A double mastectomy with reconstruction is scheduled for 10.5.16. I'm struggling but still eating healthy meals. I will be teaching my last Zumba class in a while tonight.
Who-ooooo! I just finished my first ballroom competition on Saturday and what a total BLAST! We came in 1st place in the Smooth Multi-dance competition (Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot) and 2nd in the Rhythm Multi-dance (East Coast Swing, Cha-Cha, Rumba). It was so much fun and really an exercise in getting up & over it. It's SO hard to put myself out there and be judged but I did it. I was nervous, but I did it! And came home with ribbons, too! Wow! I surprised myself again & I'm so proud of ME!!! :D
Time for another update! I'm still o &n SP and I've had to recommit. Got up to 140 just being lazy. No excuses. I stopped going to work out consistently and though I was dancing quite a bit, it wasn't keeping it off as I had hoped. I'm back to working out, and following my own example! I had started to feel the negative self-talk coming back and I REALLY don't want that, so it's back to logging my food every single day and working out combined with the dance.
I have a new, little skimpy latin costume that I want to look good in, so that's my motivation!
Here I go....I know, it's hard to keep up! LOL
Still Sparking! I gained a little over the holiday and am at 132 right now. I have been dancing my heart out and even contemplated completeing (YES! eeeeeeck!). Getting back to a workout schedule....and am planning on fulfilling my life long dream of visiting (read: backpacking down into) the Grand Canyon this year. I'm so excited! I'll get where I'm going....just give me time! :)
Wow! Can't believe it's been this long already. I've maintained my weight loss for over a year! I'm at 121 pounds at 5'6" and that is a comfortable weight for me. I'm dancing a LOT and doing any variety of outdoor activities to stay fit & healthy, working out 3x a week too. Spark People ROCKS! ;)
Up a little to 133 pounds but I'm on it! Also, I've gained a bunch of muscle. In fact, 1/4" on each arm of pure muscle (yeah!), so I'm less concerned about the number only. I still feel and look great (if I do say so myself..hee hee). Though I haven't been hiking much at all in the last two months I have been dancing like a crazy women. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Still checking in with SP daily and still continuing my health and wellness journey...things are looking good all over! ;)
Still maintaining my weight between 128-131 pounds. I feel great and guess what??? I joined a Dance Class! OH MY! I've been going for a couple of weeks now & I love it. Stayed tuned....what's next on the agenda is anyone's guess! (wink)
Still maintaining. (Yeah!) I hike amost every single weekend, usually logging anywhere from 6-10 miles. I feel fantastic.
Still rollerblade some but the hiking seems to be more enjoyable for me since I love being outdoors. I even went tubing down the river. Next on the agenda:
-More caving in TN
-Rafting down the Oconee
-Join a Dance Class
-Lose some more belly fat.
-Tighten up the thighs & buttocks.
-Tone & sculpt my arms & back muscles.
LOOOOK at me! Since beginning this journey 6+ months ago, I have met my goal of losing 35 pounds. I've actually lost almost 36. Changes? Yeah baby!
*I'm in clothes that haven't fit in YEARS!
*I LOOK younger!
*I FEEL great.
*I workout, I've even run a little.
*Confidence UP, Self-esteem UP, Attitude UP!!

*To maintain my weight but continue to firm, sculpt & tone my muscles.
*To continue my water intake & work out schedule of 3x per week at the gym.

Hi Lynn, I am a member of the Starting Over-Mini Weekly Challenges, and I must be such a dork, because I can't really see to where to join each week for a challenging week. And, does each new week start on a Monday? I see the one that you have for this week has something to do with complimenting people which I do every day. And you asked how everyone's abs felt. I'm just wondering what a challenge entails because with my RA, it's hard to exercise like the normal SP person. Also, I added you. I thought it'd be fun to get to know you better with being on the same team!

Thought I'd drop by and check in with you...
I was wondering if I was supposed to get a golden crown last week for meeting the sodium level requirements 6/7 days ?
Just curious or maybe I read the message wrong?
Hope you are doing well. I keep plugging along and am glad to get back onto the mini challenge team.

Hello-hoooo! How are you, friend? You are keeping me thinking about how to NOT go over my Sodium allowance for today. I think I can, I think I can, but only the food tracker will reveal how well I really did. Maybe I should peak now? Oy.
