So a piece of my story is this…

I have always had a strong interest in fitness, health and eating healthy. I use to be very active as I played soccer for m any years, took years of swimming and the list goes on. I remember seeing the scale say 118 lbs and I thought I was fat!!! I wish I could go back and smack myself for ever thinking that. Here I am now…sitting at staggering 215 lbs. I just sit here and shake my head as I write it out. I am only 5’1. I don’t want to say I have excuses for my weight but I have had a lot of tragedy in my life that didn’t exactly help. My father was murdered a few years ago, my sister passed away a couple years ago, my grandmother passed away a year ago. Its been tough, not going to lie. It might sound silly to some people but I would much rather deal with a weight problem due to stress, depression and issues that developed from the significant family tragedies verses becoming a person who struggles with drugs or alcohol instead. So in some sense, I feel proud that I was strong enough to get through these sad events. Aside from that, I found out I was hypothyroid in November 2010. It didn’t help. I was lazy, sluggish and tired all the time due to my untreated thyroid disorder. Its being treated now with medications so its all in order and my levels are perfect. I definitely feel a difference with that, so that’s good!

As far as trying to lose the weight; I have tried many things but fail to stick to it. I am an “all or nothing” kind of gal. I get frustrated easily and if I slip even the slightest, I beat myself up and I usually tend to just fall off track completely. I am currently trying the Dr Bernstein Diet. It is very structured and that’s just what I feel I need. You get a lot of support. You go in three times a week to do your weigh in and you get your vitamin shots when you go in as well. Some people don’t agree with the diet and some do. I will post my weight weekly every Friday…so if you care to see my progress. Please stop by my page!

October 26th 2011- 208.6 lbs

Hey if you've been able to effectively maintain your current weight without gaining, that's great! That's really the "hard" part anyway. After you find a weight loss program that works for you, most days it's almost easy to keep that momentum going because you're so "in it" and you have this new routine basically down to a science, but maintaining is so much harder because you don't have all that structure anymore. I know for me at least, it's been about 100x easier to get off track when I'm in maintenance mode as opposed to losing mode, so props to you for continuing to do well even when you're off the program!

I've been doing okay. Nothing exciting to report really. Not losing any weight lately, but honestly I havent really been trying. I suck at working out and it's making me feel lazy and unmotivated. I'd really like to get back into a regular workout routine, but I just can't seem to keep up with it. I've been repainting some rooms in my house and gathering crap from every corner to try to sell because the house is going on the market soon. It's crazy it's so close to actually happening but what has to be done has to be done. Sighh..

I'll be away next week going on a little road trip with my cousin but I'm sure I'll talk to you again before then. Glad to hear you've been well since the last time we spoke!
