"I wanna give a shout-out to myself..."
"Life is a beautiful struggle..." That's a quote from a song I really like and I love that quote because I think it's so true. Life is very beautiful, but without a little bit of hardship, you'd never be able to truly and fully appreciate all its beauty. I started down the road to health and fitness a while ago and I set a small goal for myself. It was just 20 pounds, and at the time it seemed almost insurmountable. But with the help of Sparkpeople, I met my goal- surpassed it even, but then I got cocky. I stopped being so vigilant about what I ate and slacked way off on my exercise...so much so that I gained back all the weight I'd lost. I realize that old habits die hard, but for a while there, I wasn't even trying. Now, several months later, I'm back on the wagon. I want to be an inspiration in my own life so that I may inspire the lives of others. That's what it's all about, right? So, my fellow Sparkers, I declare today that I will continue on my journey and enjoy the ride. I WILL be successful. I WILL meet my goals. And most of all, I WILL be healthy, because that's the best thing I could do for myself. Giving up is not an option. "In it to win in 2010!" And by the way, I want to explain my page title. I'm a giving person- to a fault. I give and give and give of myself because I've been raised to live a service-oriented lifestyle, but I'm (just now) learning that it's okay to take time out for me. I'm learning that it's not selfish if I want to stop doing the unhealthy things I used to do, even if it means I have to miss out on some things. I'm learning that it's okay to say NO, and believe me, that one was the hardest pill to swallow. Thanks again for stopping by and feel free to leave me a message. Later days!

My Goals:
Believe it or not, my primary goal is not to lose weight. My goal FIRST AND FOREMOST is to learn and then apply all the keys I need to live a healthy, positive lifestyle. Once I learn these, all the rest will fall into place automatically! Ain't that beautiful?? -Reduce waist size -Exercise consistantly -Reduce stress -Enjoy myself while doing it!
My Program:
1. Eat! No more skipping meals! I try to aim for 3 square meals a day and one or two small, healthy snacks, plus plenty of water throughout the day. I am monitoring carb intake. Also I plan to start finding healthier substitutes and alternatives. 2. Exercise! I aim to do at least 30 minutes of activity 3 or 4 days a week. 3. Encourage! This site has given me soooo much, and it's high time that I give back-- not only to the Spark Community, but to all that I love and care about.
