Update: Giving up wheat didn't last long. It's in everything! So almost a year later, I am getting back to basics and keeping my goals do-able. If I have learned anything about myself the last few years, it is that I am prone to lofty goals and failure at said goals. Hmm. What am I going to do about that? Accept it. And work with it. My new goal is to just add 30 minutes on the treadmill to my day five times a week. I will eat the same way I always eat and sleep the same way I always sleep, which is too much and too little, respectively. I cannot change everything at once! I'm two days in, and glad to be starting anew, with a goal I can stick to. I will not add anything else until my birthday, which is January 20. At that point, I plan to add strength training 3 days a week, and decide whether to drop the treadmill days and increase the time...And if my eating habits improve as a result of my exercise, then great! And if my sleep improves as well, terrific! But I'm not going to set out with any goal but: treadmill - 30 mins x 5/week.
Update: Earned my Associates in Science, turned down a a full scholarship to complete my Bachelor's after deciding that the stress is not worth the health trade-off. Now I am focusing on my health, my family, and taking a serious assessment of life goals! When I joined SP, and before the holidays arrived, I lost about 15 pounds. I kept it off for a while, but slowly have gained about 12 back. Grrr. New plan: Give up wheat! That's it. We'll see what that does! Highly recommend reading "Wheat Bellies" - it will blow your mind and inspire you!
Original: The last year has been tough for me. I enrolled my last child in school after eleven years of homeschooling. She was ready, and so was I. I enrolled myself in college, and really felt that it was going to be a time of growth and moving forward for me. I went for two years and stayed motivated, and had an impressive GPA. However, when I couldn't find a degree program that fit, everything went downhill. I have been out of school for a year now, have gained weight, and felt useless and lost about what to do with my life. It's time to wake up and get back on track! I feel a new day dawning!
To add exercise back into my life!
Walk on the treadmill 30 minutes, 5x per week until my birthday, January 20.
I love to read, hike, camp, cook, and learn new things!
