I have left my job and just completed my first semester of law school. All of the healthy habits I thought I had permanently adopted over the summer went right out the door the first month of school. I commute & there is no fresh, good food on campus but there is free caffeine & sugar everywhere. This makes eating well & finding time to cook extremely difficult. I am trying to develop a plan that will work with this new schedule.

My Goals:
My main goal is to have a more healthy relationship with food. I am allergic to so much that I have spent too much time mourning what I can't have. So I am also trying new foods.

I was the same size for four years & it's only in the last 8-10 months that I have been unable to squeeze into my clothes. I want to get back in to my wardrobe, no squeezing!

I would also like to reduce my refined sugar & carb intake. I am a carb junkie. I am working towards a whole foods diet. This also means cooking, which I hate. Living alone makes the box of cereal so much more convenient & appealing!

Try to run again! It may be hard with my sports injuries but I used to be a runner & I want to give it an honest effort, even if I am ultimately unable to run. I want it to be because of my injuries not my weight.


My Program:
I am packing my lunches. My work environment is very stressful & we all have the bad habit of eating out all the time. This will also be good on my wallet! So for every 1lb I lose I am putting aside $1. I don't know what I am going to use that money for yet but it will be a non food reward.

I am also walking when I am stressed instead of going to the coffee shop for a vanilla latte & a sugary muffin.

I have been weighing & measuring my food. I was totally under estimating my portions before.

To keep from the cardio rut, I am trying new classes like Zumba, TRX & maybe WillPower&Grace. I love spinning but if given the option, I would only do that so I need to mix it up & have fun.

I am very active in social & political issues, esp in gender rights & domestic violence & sexual assault awareness. I love my volunteer work & hope to make it a career soon.
I also have a MA in Eng Lit so reading a good book is always amazing!
I have two crazy felines who make me crazy but never fail to make me smile on a daily basis.
I am passionate, strong and caring!

    It's the last day of July ...a good time to reflect upon your goals for August! Things to consider may be...

    How many fitness minutes do you want to try to achieve?
    How many pounds would you reasonably like to lose?
    What new activities would you like to try?
    What has been working for you that you would like to continue?
    What hasn't been working and should be changed?

    Not everyone likes to set goals, but it is a valuable tool to use on this journey. Goals help to provide focus and a vision for what we want to accomplish. Even if we fail to meet our goals, the experience provides valuable feedback --- What went wrong? What behavior do we need to change to attain what we set out to do?

    Take a few minutes ... challenge yourself with some goals for August!
