I started out January 1, 2011 by getting on the scales to see where I was and kind of resolving that I was, once again, going to lose weight this year. I had resolved this many times before but did not stick with it. I am 5'11" and weighed 252.4 lbs. I needed to do something. I was having trouble with headaches and high blood pressure. I had lost weight before but then would gain it back.

I had resolved this many times before but did not stick with it. I am 5'11" and weighed 252.4 lbs. I needed to do something. I was having trouble with headaches and high blood pressure. I had lost weight before but then would gain it back.

I started to do some research online about losing weight. I had followed the Weight Watchers plan before and it did work but then I got away from what I was doing and eventually gained the weight back. I had heard about SparkPeople and in my research I learned a little more about it and would have to say that it has been very beneficial in helping me to lose the weight I have so far. I enjoy reading the articles and being able to easily track my water intake, calories, and fitness all in one place. I also take advantage of the apps which make it very convenient to keep tracking even when away from home. Seeing the success of other Spark members has also been a motivational factor for me.

I am getting away from the idea of being on a "diet" and focusing more on a healthy lifestyle. One of the big keys to a change in my lifestyle is that I began running this year. I started in January with a couch to 5k program and have continued running from there. I really enjoy it and it has been a great help in losing weight and feeling better.

As of July 19, I am down to 189.4 (-63 lbs.) and feeling so much better!! I have set a goal of 175 but really just want to get down to a weight where my body will naturally even out.

SparkPeople has been a wonderful help in my journey to a healthier lifestyle.
