Lose the weight and the pain!

I just logged back on to my spark page and saw that my introductory text said I was 37. Well, I'm 40 now. About 5 pounds lighter than before. I've been riding the up and down for a while but I'm not giving up! So I'm back to give this a whirl again!

My Goals:
I want to get to 135-130 pounds.
I want to never smoke again.
I want to eat more natural healthy foods.
I want to eat food that tastes good.
I want to have a strong healthy body that doesn't constantly feel like someone is using an axe at my back.


My Program:
After the 4 back surgeries, I have maxed out my medical coverage for physical therapy so I have attempted to create my own from what I remember from the previous therapists I have had. I go to the local gym at least 3 times a week. I ride the eliptical machine for 30 minutes, plus a 5 minute cool down. I also make one pass on most of the weight machines at a weight that I can do for 15 reps without putting too much strain on any muscles. However, after over a month of this I have lost no weight. I do, also, watch what I eat and drink. I have been trying to eat more naturally and with whole grains. I don't know what is wrong with my world, but I just don't want to give up and be a lazy lizard the rest of my life. I want to be able to see the rest of the world!

Personal Information:
I live in Pennsylvania, but my husband and I love to travel. We recently returned from a trip to the beach - a wonderful break from the 'real world' but also a time to reflect on EXACTLY how I looked in the bathing suit!.....
Well. those comments were posted about a year ago. It is January 2008 now and I am adjusting my page to fit my accomplishments in 2007. After my last surgery I weighed 180. I now weigh 145. Not bad, but not quite to my goal. My weight tends to fluctuate about 5 pounds, so I say I still have 15-20 pounds to go. I have made some great changes to my lifestyle and routines, but I need to work on consistency! That will be the focus this year!

HI KUCKERLAFLEUR..
I read your post on loose weight in 2008/weekly progress report thread.
You started out almost exactly where I am right now and it was inspiring to read about it..I am excited to see that after what you have lost you still seem so inspired...that is what I long for...I am proud of you!!!

Hi!
I read a post of yours where you said you exercised and watched your food intake for 8 months before eliminating your first pound...
My goodness! I would have given up on the first month! Maybe even before that: after my first two weeks I eliminated 5.5lbs, then on the 3rd week, only 1.4lbs. And I already felt discouraged!
Wow, a thousand congrats to you!
P.S: Congrats on the gorgeous children too! If that son of yours were 10 years older, I would be getting thinner just so I could try to woo him! LOL! ;o)
