Adventures in Buffalo

I moved up to Buffalo in Jan 2011 after graduating nursing school in Georgia. My partner and I got married over Memorial Day weekend and, after much searching, landed a job at the local trauma center's Acute Rehab unit (think spinal cord and stroke) in July. My irregular schedule coupled with the facts that I tend to eat my stress/emotions and that Buffalo is the land of pizza-subs-wings and donuts (on every corner, I kid you not), makes for a less than ideal combination! :P I've got a lot ...

My partner and I got married over Memorial Day weekend and, after much searching, landed a job at the local trauma center's Acute Rehab unit (think spinal cord and stroke) in July. My irregular schedule coupled with the facts that I tend to eat my stress/emotions and that Buffalo is the land of pizza-subs-wings and donuts (on every corner, I kid you not), makes for a less than ideal combination! :P I've got a lot of weight to lose, but I'm more interested in feeling better, sleeping better, and having more energy and more physiological reserves (I don't want to get winded and have my heart rate go nuts just walking up 2 or 3 flights of stairs. ) I need encouragement and some way to stay accountable for what I'm doing (or not doing), 'cause I can be rather flakey when it comes to Being Healthy. (I've been on SparkPeople for a year or more but keep forgetting to keep up with it!) So, I'm putting myself out there and taking responsibility!

My Goals:
Trying to shift into a healthier lifestyle :)

Break the take-out habit.
Exercise daily.

My Program:
Following guidelines from the nutrition tracker as to calories, etc and keeping the food diary and exercising daily. At this point I don't have a Plan - just trying to get into a habit of any exercise on a regular basis. Mostly walking, but hope to get over my disinclination toward strength training.
