Journey to the new Kimberly

I am 47 years old and have been struggling with my weight for 10 years. I do not want to be struggling 10 years from now. I am finally ready to make my health a priority.

5/8/12 I am starting over once again. I had started this with such energy and excitement and was doing really well. However, I found out that I had to have a hysterectomy and so I just said "screw it" and went completely crazy with my eating. Now I'm heavier than ever and even embarrassed to leave the house. ...

5/8/12 I am starting over once again. I had started this with such energy and excitement and was doing really well. However, I found out that I had to have a hysterectomy and so I just said "screw it" and went completely crazy with my eating. Now I'm heavier than ever and even embarrassed to leave the house. So today I'm say ENOUGH! I deserve to be happy, healthy and beautiful. I've realized the only person I am hurting is myself by sabotaging my eating plan.
So with excitement and enthusiasm I say "I AM READY!"

My Program:
I'm following the pre-diabetic program. I haven't execised in over a year due to numerous spine surgeries, but I have been given the OK by my dr. to start walking, so I will be walking at least 30 mins. daily.

Personal Information:
I am a single mom of two fantastic, amazing, young men. I'm doing this in part so that I will still be around when they are adults. I live in Kalispell, Montana and am very active in my church here. I would welcome any spiritual encouragement as well.

Dressed up little creatures
On a dark October night
Run from door to door
Giving everyone a fright.

They come and ring your doorbell
And before they will retreat,
They beg you for some candy
By yelling "trick or treat".

When their bags are full,
They run home to eat their fill.
They taste a bit of everything
And by morning they are ill!

So to keep the youngsters healthy,
I've figured out a deal.
This year instead of candy,
I'll give them all oatmeal!

Wishing you a Happy Halloween!

Listen to your mind today and if you hear the word NO use it when tempted.

Make your lunch healthier today by choosing one of the following options:

Try different types of lettuce in your salad rather than just iceberg lettuce (think dark, leafy greens)

Add at least one serving of fruit to your meal

Use whole grain bread or wraps for your sandwich

Have soup before your meal

If you eat out, have a healthy appetizer instead of a full entree

If these ideas don't work, what else could you do to make your lunch healthier?
