My Dad, my husband and I. January 9, 2010

I am 28 and finally ready to take the steps to lose some weight. I have only gained my weight in the last 5 years, so my mind still thinks I'm slim and my body just doesn't do what I think it can. I am hoping to get motivated and to be pushed to keep on track! I tried WW a few years ago and after 4 months I weighed exactly the same weight as I started. I have just realized that until you are ready on the inside nothing will be able to keep you focused on losing weight. Thankfully for the first time I am finally there.
I have been married for almost 5 years. My husband and I have been together since we were 15 so we are best friends. It is great to always have his support and I am hoping that my success and drive gets him motivated in his own life. Life has been difficult and filled with stresses for me and him. He suffers from severe anxiety and depression and therefore has not been able to work. Unfotunately until the start of 2011 he didn't help out around the house. This put a great deal of stress on me and instead of dealing with it, I ate it. I don't have any kids yet, probably not for a long time. But I do own the most adorable Labrador Retriever. Logan is 3 and weighs 96lbs. He is so lovable and friendly, we could not have got a better dog if we tried. Right now I am just happy being his mommy. He is the only one that I know does not judge the size of pants I wear only how many hugs and pets he gets in one day!!
My goals are more than just numbers on the scale. I hope my weight drops mostly to improve my self-esteem. I also want to gain back my energy and love of life
I want to change my lifestyle, not just go on a diet. I want this to be the way I live life every day. I plan to incorporate more fruits and veggies, especially by eating at home. I also plan on adding in fun exercise activites into my days, such as walking my dog, snowshoeing, or swimming. It is all about making weight loss consistant. I go to the gym once every 3 months or so. I am going to get moving everyday!
I am also going through this with a good friend, Sheena. We are in the exact same boat. We have spent the last few weeks working out our plans, motivational posters and planning better eating habits. It is good to be with someone who is starting at the same spot and understands your struggles. I am looking forward to having her there to call if I am tempted, down, happy or scared. It really helps to have that buddy.
I am born and raised in Edmonton, AB Canada. I am a very passionate Canadian and all the stereotypes that come with it - Love hockey, drink beer, say eh? and wear toques!!
My childhood was very active dancing up to 4 days a week, swimming, biking, playing piano and flute. I have 2 older sisters that I idolize. Now that I am married, I no longer exercise and I eat out almost every single day. My evenings consist of worrying about money, my dirty house and escaping in TV or sleep. Some of my hobbies are cheering for the Edmonton Oilers, reading mystery novels, movies, learning to dance and singing really bad kareokee!
My sister is my biggest motivator and inspiration. We have always been extremely close and love to laugh together. We have been each others shoulder to cry on and spirit to lift each other up. I just wanted to mention what a special person she is. She is a working mother of 3. She keeps healthier eating habits, clean house, friends, and wonderful crafts. Thanks for showing me this site sis!!
