**UPDATE 1-1-10**

Okay, here I go again. I have not been lazy in my goal to get healthy and lose weight, I just have not been on SparkPeople since last January! I am back because I know that tracking and having the support of SP works for me. I have to find time to sit down daily and track my food. I have continued to lose weight, and am down 38 pounds since I began this journey in 2008. My goal is to track my food and get back to consistency in the gym, which I did last year and felt great. I hope to see my old friends here on SP and make some new ones! Here's to a great 2010!


I turned 40 on Feb. 25, 2008 and have decided that the next 40 years will be the healthiest of my life! I am married to my high school sweetheart (together for 25 years now, married for 16) and we have a 14 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. I want to be fit and healthy for their weddings and to be an active grandma. Of course, I have started over again with a toddler and know that these are the most important years for her. If I am going to be an "older" mom to her, I at least want to be a fit and healthy one!

***UPDATE*** 1/2/09
I'm back!! It's been almost a year since I first began SP and almost 6 months since I left. I was in a serious car accident in mid-July 2008, when my 2 year old daughter and I were hit on the freeway by a gravel truck, I was unable to exercise due to neck and back injuries. I am thankful to be alive and healthy - my injuries could have been devastating, and my daughter was uninjured, miraculously. The doctor has finally cleared me to get back to the gym and I am done with using the accident as an excuse not to eat well or exercise. Luckily, I didn't gain back more than 8 pounds (after losing 23) but I am feeling flabby and can't wait to firm up. I have also been inspired by the Biggest Loser and am more motivated than ever to take charge of my health again. It feels good to be back!

My Goals:
I want to focus on losing 10% of my weight at a time so as to reduce my risk of diabetes and heart disease, which ultimately caused my father's death.

My Program:
I have been paying attention "somewhat" to what I have been eating but have been too lax with what goes in my mouth. My first step is to increase my water intake, which is hard for me in the cold weather. I am also going to track my food again because that is what worked for me when I began SP.

    Hi! Well, I'm back for 2010 and hoping it goes better than 2009 did...I gained about 30 pounds. It looks like you're doing great though and still losing the pounds so YAY!! Hopefully I'll be losing soon too!

    Hey there... well I guess I can add that I'm back too. I hope to get remotivated here. I've gained 30lbs too in a year even with working out regularly. Terrible I know. Well hopefully we can inspire each other.

    Welcome back! I'm so sorry to hear about your car accident, but glad to hear you and your daughter are ok-how scary! I have also been away for 6 months but I don't have an excuse :) ....and unfortunately I've gained 30 pounds in that time which I'm humiliated to admit but I guess that's the first step. Well, here's to a good start in '09!
