Ready for Change

I am 33 years old, married, and have a wonderful 14 month old son. I have struggled with my weight since I was about 12 years old and I want to finally stop the cycle of losing and regaining weight.

I eat for just about every reason other than hunger, and I spend too much of my day thinking about food and dealing with cravings. During the times in my life when I have been thinner, it has either been through deprivation, or extreme exercise. I want to learn to have a healthy relationship with food, and start an exercise program I can maintain, especially when I return to work in September.

Iím ready to make changes, and ultimately I am looking to find a sense of peace with food, be able to enjoy the activities I used to love, like swimming, without feeling self conscious, and have more energy. I look forward to being part of a community of people with similar goals.

My Goals:
Number one is making peace with myself. This is the first goal to work towards (and it does take work!) but as I practice the techniques that help me with this, all of my other goals become attainable.

Other goals

To lose 40-50 pounds at a reasonable rate and maintain this comfortably

To make the time for exercise now, and especially when I return to work in the fall

To start jogging again....baby steps :) I used to really enjoy a good jog.

To get pregnant with a 2nd child in the next 6 months, and continue the healthy lifestyle I am working towards



My Program:
Eat when I am hungry

Differentiate between physical and emotional hunger

Eat, (and learn) what food my body truly wants

Most importantly, eat slowly and consciously

Stop when I am full

Slowly incorporate the exercises I enjoy back into my life

How very kind of you to send me a spark goodie. It came at the perfect time. I had a terrible night's sleep (or actually non-sleep) and the drowsiness always makes me feel a little blue. The goodie sparked me right up.
