I am finding the best me.

I am not how much I weigh or how I look, but HOW I FEEL!

I am finding the best me and with this comes a quest to be healthier and more fit. I started my journey in April 2012 at 242lbs and as of December 2012, I managed to loose 50lbs with the support of Sparkers and the tools at SparkPeople. How spirited and light I felt!!!

I am finding the best me and with this comes a quest to be healthier and more fit. I started my journey in April 2012 at 242lbs and as of December 2012, I managed to loose 50lbs with the support of Sparkers and the tools at SparkPeople. How spirited and light I felt!!!

After getting distracted from my health and allowing stress to overwhelm me, in February 2014, at 214lbs, I decided to take control again- not of the responsibilities, situations and challenges that cause me discomfort, but control of MYSELF and MY RESPONSES to them!

I am choosing not to fight who I am or what the world has challenged me with. I choose to love, accept and support myself. Becoming the best version of myself is a journey, not a battle.

I am learning a lot about myself and how much I really am capable of. I also enjoy sharing and supporting others who are working to better themselves as well.

September 21, 2014:
I've taken on a few more classes and now teach Zumba 4-5 times each week. I'm still working on stress management and some not so great choices I make when I'm feeling stressed out. This really is about lifestyle and small changes over time...

February 1, 2014:
I have been doing a number of good things for myself- I have been teaching Zumba three times a week since last September and have been working with a trainer twice a week to learn more about how my body works and what I can do to remind my muscles that I need them. However, I have also fallen prey to the thought that "since I work out, I need to eat more." Sure, maybe some, but I've gone way past the value of nutrition by eating/drinking when I am emotional (good or bad), stressed or just plain bored.

I am now focusing on being more mindful of what I put in my body and am trying to look at food as a function; fuel for my body, not as a temporary (and high cost) way to to get through a difficult moment.

Life does have it's ups and downs, I'm ready for more ups!!

July 20, 2013:
The past seven months, I have been able to maintain the weight loss I accomplished. I am working now to adjust my diet and exercise routine to build some sexy muscle tone and burn off the unnecessary fat. About three months ago, I joined a "real gym" (I was WAY too scared to do that when I started this journey) and now have a trainer that I work with twice a week for strength training. I still enjoy Zumba classes and recently became a licensed Zumba instructor. I am hoping to put together enough choreography to teach a class soon. I am proud of myself for keeping the commitment I have made to my health and am getting excited about taking this to the next level!

Hi all! Six weeks after I had my second baby, I joined SparkPeople. I am working to get fit and be a happier, healthier individual. After pregnancy, a crazy life, a stressful job and a lifetime of being overweight- IT IS TIME. I am going to do this. I AM GOING TO GET FIT!!

As I undertake this challenge, and a new path in life, I am learning that this is as much a mental journey as a physical one.

My Goals:
My goal is to reduce my body fat and increase muscle tone to be a healthy and strong 170lbs. Why not see how healthy and writ I can get after that- regardless of the number associated!!


I believe getting fit will help me be happier and have more energy!

WEIGHT GOALS:

By 12/31/14- 170 lbs. Let's start 2015 in a good place!


OTHER GOALS:

Learn new Zumba routines to share with my students!!

Do 5 "real" pushups a day.

Find or create a full body strength training routine that I can do independently twice a week.

Get better at "pushing myself" when working out.

Have a healthy BMI!

Decrease my body fat from 30% to 20%.

My Program:
EATING
- Drink 96 ounces of water every day
- Use SparkPeople to count calories and stay in recommended calorie range
- Reduce processed foods, limit white sugar and flour
- Reduce alcohol to social occasions only.

EXERCISE
- Enjoy a variety of exercise, including teaching Zumba 4-5 times each week.
- Practice yoga at least once a week
- Incorporate a full body strength training routine that I can do independently twice a week.
- Practice "Hard is Good" - don't let myself wuss out.

LIFESTYLE
- Explore and practice healthy ways to manage my stress.
- Do something fun and active with my family on a regular basis.
- Work towards a better balance of "me time".
