A change for the better.

I'm an RN that works in a cardiac ICU. I see every day what happens when you don't take care of yourself. This past winter- that finally truly clicked and really understood what my future could hold if I didn't get serious and the rest they say is history....

Things have been going well thus far, I am feeling very happy about how far I have come and looking forward to keep moving in the right direction to reach my final goal. I have come to realize that there are some people ...

Things have been going well thus far, I am feeling very happy about how far I have come and looking forward to keep moving in the right direction to reach my final goal. I have come to realize that there are some people that support you and want you to succeed and some that don't and that's ok because I will succeed no matter what.

FOOD: I have learned to try new foods and have discovered that some of them actually taste better than what I was eating before. Learning to change the way I cook (and bake) has become a fun challenge for me. I am still learning to listen to my body and realize when I am full but each day I get better. I am amazed at how many calories I was consuming before and the complete amazing difference I feel now that I am doing this correctly.

FITNESS: I joined the local gym and have progressed from just walking to actually running. I also started taking Pilates and have truly fallen in love with it! It is such a great workout and I can feel the results so quickly. I have tried so many new ways to exercise- there are so many options out there! Weight training is also starting to grow on me. I like feeling strong and healthy.

LIFE: It's all good.

My Goals:
To be at a healthy weight by the end of 2009- which according to everything I have read for my height and body type is between 115-135. So, I figured I would split the difference and settle on 125. I would love to feel comfortable in my own body again and have increased energy. I am also looking forward to working at getting myself in shape so that I can complete a 5k and then 10k by the end of 2009- then 1/2 marathon and finally a marathon by the end of 2010. Whoo-hoo!

My Program:
Food: Whole foods, nothing processed.
Fitness program: 60 minutes of cardio 5 days/week.
Weight training: 3 days/week.
Strength & flexibility training: Pilates or Yoga 2 days/week.

Personal Information:
I am 34 and live in central NY. I work as an RN and love the way it keeps me moving. I love to scrapbook, attempting new recipes, addicted to theme parks and love being with my family and friends. I am always willing to try new things and look forward to where my path in life takes me.

Wow, LOVE the new profile pic..You need to get more pics on here. You are doing a great job! Thanks for the comment on my blog! I am SO open to running anytime. Do you get to Geneva much? We could go down by the lake? I have slowed down a little bit- not getting on the road as much as I would like...but I am always looking for someone to go with.
