I'm an exercise enthusiast and need to refine the tools I use to keep the weight off. Its not as easy keeping it off as it used to be.

As a kid I was always active, my main mode of movement being dance. I danced for 15 years at a performing arts school mainly classical ballet. This is where I became very aware of health and fitness. In high school I was a cheerleader and ran track and field.

When I was in high school I worked at the local gym. I obtained all of the certifications to become an aerobic instructor. I taught aerobics all throughout my junior and senior years of high school and during my college years. Being an aerobic instructor was a big part of my life for 12 years in total. My decision to pursue a degree in movement science was natural.

With my movement science degree I became a physical education teacher. My main focus of instruction is health and fitness based. I taught K-6 for 15 years and currently I've been teaching middle school. I love the older kids but I miss those little kiddos. They would yell "HI GYM" when I walked by them until they remembered my name (soooo cute).

READER BEWARE! (this is the dark part)
Part off the motivation for all of the above was my mom who has struggled with her weight since I can remember. A few years ago she dropped about 100 pounds and has managed to keep it off (WOO HOO Mom). I struggle daily and a lot of times minute to minute and second to second with eating issues. A learned behavior from seeing and hearing my mother as a youngster. I binge (there it's out). The "binge" has me always struggling to keep my weight down. It has gotten to the point of what I call exercise bulimic, better then the other I guess. Sometimes the exercise gets so intense that I become injured. Spring of 2010 I was training so hard doing everything to burn the calories. Working my way up to 8 mile runs doing an 8 and a half minute mile. Sprints, weights, yoga, cardio machines, running, you name it. Can you say injury! Yup, I blew my knee and it has been holding me back. This injury has taken it's tole physically and mentally. I am finally beginning to run again here and there.

I'm afraid of injuries because that means lack of movement. My motto is "motion is lotion". Not to mention movement is my job.

On this journey to a healthier me I try to use portion control, but it is not easy. So many times I can do it but I always fall back into the binge scene????? All I can do is just keep trying. Keep struggling and striving for a better me.

All my best to my fellow spark friends because it is not easy.

Soooo good to hear from you ! Congratulations on selling your home and buying a new one. that's fantastic news.

I've been wondering how you've been holding up with all the rain we've had this past month. I'm sure school and family have been keeping you busy. I finally found a contract job !! it took me 10 months, but I'm working full time through the summer. My contract is supposed to end in August, but at the rate we're going, I'll be kept on. I'm hoping to be asked to be permanent.

I can tell you more later.

    Glad you're back !!

Hey ! I hope you had a wonderful Thankgiving with your family ! Yeah, I ate too much, but that's par for the course. LOL !!

I normally don't play the lottery, but shoot... for $500 million, it can't hurt to buy one ticket.
