Getting Krackers cracking

Hi!
My name is Maria. Krackers is the nickname I "earned" from one of my colleagues / manager at work because my surname is a mouthful and I have a tendency to crack my colleagues up. Hated it first, now love it and am not afraid to use it :) It gives me the advantage that people don't expect me to fit in and it lets me get away with a LOT.

I'm 42 years old and a little more fluffy than average. I didn't set myself fixed goals of losing weight or getting fitter, because I knew I wouldn't be able to spend much time actively pursuing them. However, I am committed to keeping track of my progress, lose weight gradually and get fitter.

Beginning of January 2009 I set myself a goal to go down 1 dress size this year. A little apprehensive, but I believe if I don't start setting me that goal, I will not really get on with it, either. Let's see where I go from here.

23Jan09 update:
First goal met. Down from 80 kg at the beginning of January (and I already had lost weight before) to 77 kg (my target was 78 kg). Next goal already set. - Looks like I might very well go down a dress size after all. Didn't dare to believe in it!

My Goals:
Go down a dress size this year (2009)

m/e Jan09: 78 kg - goal met
m/e Feb09: 70 kg - adjusted on 07Feb from 75 to 70.

My Program:
Watch more carefully what I eat, when I eat it and be more disciplined. Also, I want to keep track of my progress and not lose sight of what I want to achieve.

11Jan09: In the spirit of above, I've now decided to try to get to 78 kilos total weight by m/e Jan09. Doesn't look like much, but I hate the scales and what they do to me.
IF I achieve this goal, I'll gift myself with some cuddly yarn to knit myself a cuddly scarf and hat. If I don't achieve the goal, I won't get it and will keep trying.

24Jan09 update:
WOHEEE - Didn't dare to believe in it, but I reached my goal early. Weigh-in confirmed 77 kg today.

Goal for m/e Feb:
weigh-in at 75kg
gift to me if I achieve this:
one extra special meal with my darling husband and a bottle of wine (screw my allergies!)

07Feb09 update:
Just had to adjust my goal. My weigh in (3 weeks before Feb09 m/e confirms I already have achieved my goal. Guess, the bar was too low. WOHOOOOO

Other Information:
Achievements:
01Jan09: 80 kg
23Jan09: 77 kg
07Feb09: 75 kg
(new) m/e Feb target: 70kg

Maria, when I saw your listing of kilograms instead of pounds, I wondered if you were English. My daughter has lived in England for over 10 years. She is in West Sussex, Haywards Heath. I love the villages of England. There are so many lovely places to walk there.
You are doing so well. Happy days.
Connie

Just stopping by to say hello and see how you are doing.

I picked up my 15 balls of wool today and am thumbing through patterns trying to figure out what to make. It's all the same colour (variegated pinks, blues, greens) - springy colours.... thinking blanket - might crochet as it will go faster......I'll keep thumbing and thinking til something strikes my fancy.

Hope all is well in your part of the world.

It only works with "easy" patterns and small garments for me. Like a simple baby cardigan or a scarf or bag or... But it works. I tried it first last year, I think. I was getting tired of walking behind the dog, him sniffing here and there, not wanting to play. So I thought, well, I do want to be outside, but sitting on a park bench IS a bit boring. So next time round I brought my knitting and it worked fine. Not always, but it's OK. I won't be running marathons like that. But doing a simple stocking stitch (knit one row and purl the next) I mostly don't look at the knitting, anyway. That's catching two flies with one swat - I spend more time outside getting exercise and the small baby stuff is done very quickly.

Knit-walk? Really? If that means, what I think it means (knitting and walking at the same time) you are so very much my HERO! I'm lucky if I can chew gum and walk without falling...... I do knit while on my stationary bike though, couldn't imagine myself knitting while walking though.... Wow!

Thanks Krackers - your feedback means a LOT to me. It really helped me out. You are such a beautiful sharing person.

lol - Hey I just noticed that you picked me up off the ground a month to the day in January too. It must be a hormonal cycle thing, eh? lol. Having had a partial hysterectomy I never know when the 'hormones' are going to hit but that had to be a big part of what my melt down was from. You are brilliant! Have a great day Krackers - you ARE the best!
