I'm a highly educated, 50+, retired lady whose main "fun" right now is leading an aerobics class twice a week. I'm not a tech-head, but I'm active, involved, and always searching for more friends. I'm even better in person, as I'm pretty laid-back and accepting!
I've learned how to reach a weight loss goal -- I reached my goal weight by Low Carbing, a la Atkins. But I got severe lack of support at a time of great stress, did the stupid thing and regained the weight, and now am starting all over. (Update: now halfway there.) I'm smart, but I have learned you are always stronger when you have help. I KNOW I can do this; but I'd love to have a buddy.
My goal is to lose weight and keep it off for ME -- to look good, feel good, and be healthier for the rest of my life. I'm finally OVER (that was SO last decade!) the struggle to stay YOUNG and pushing myself far too hard. Now, I'm more relaxed -- I enjoy gardening, oil painting, stained-glass making, dancing, reading, and cuddling with my dear friend Ginger (that green thing on my shoulder in my profile image), in addition to my more vigorous pursuits of snow-skiing, step-aerobics, shooting hoops, and hula-hooping. Hey, ya gotta keep it fun!
1. Lose 30 more pounds.
2. Quit driving so fast!
3. Learn to speak Italian better.
4. Find more ways to regularly incorporate strength-training into my life.
5. Find the courage to make certain major changes in my life.
1. Calorie-cycling while low-carbing on a keto diet.
2. Paying fines and learning to use cruise-control at all times!
3. Listening to language CD's while I drive. And visiting Italy!
4. 10 minutes (JUST!) of ab exercises! Yes, I CAN do it!
5. Getting professional advice in several areas: make-up, style, health, aging, etc.

Thanks for checking on me, I knew you were busy. I read about the death in your family and know you have a very busy life outside of SP. They also don't make it easy to track conversations. I usually reply to comments on my page directly on my page. Makes it easier to follow the conversation.
I've tried following a friend's conversation with someone and you have to go from page to page and try to decipher. Something SP could work on.
At any rate, my hamstring pull cleared up completely in about 4 weeks. I never let it rest too long and have had no lingering side effects. In fact, I'm still losing weight. 23 pounds so far in almost 4 months. Slow and steady works for me.
I was thinking about starting the plateau busting challenge to jump start it again. I'd like to get a little more fit before we head to Colorado in September, and definitely before I start looking for a job again.

I am still maintaining on low carb low/cal cycle. Right now however I am up towards the top of my 7lb limit. So am cutting out celebration days for a bit till I get down the 5 again. I like to be right down to the bottom before the holidays (its winter here) she Ive a few months to go. Then I can enjoy Christmas.

I just read your post on the 6 exercises over 40 should do.
Its nice to see a trainer looking into helping people get more out of their exercises. You must be a very caring person to always be looking for better ways to incorporate exercises.

Thank you for your warm welcome to the LC50+Females. And yes, I will try to be active on the message boards. I'm hoping that I haven't joined too many teams, because I know when I have, I can't do justice to each! I'll be checking in on as much as I can.
