Ready for a real change!

I'm finally ready to lose weight the smart, healthy, and SLOW way after five years of constant dieting, battling an eating disorder, and simply hating my body.
Right now, I'm a little overwhelmed with all of the great resources here on Spark People, so I'm sorry if I don't reply to your e-mail or comment, but I very much appreciate all of the kind words and support you all have been offering! And when I finally do get the hang of SP, I promise that I would love to support all of you in ...

My Goals:
Superficially? I want to reach the weight I am most comfortable at - 130.

Mentally? I want to learn to love exercise, end my emotional eating, stop purging, and be at a place where food no longer controls my life.

My Program:
As of May 13, 2009, I'm just SparkStreakin'! Eventually, with (very, very) little steps, I hope to achieve a healthy lifestyle.

July 1: 1 pound down, 23 to go - I can do it!

July 20: Finally under 150! I am 149.9, yessss!

August 3: Proud member of the 8 Week Battle #5 Yellow Team!

Personal Information:
I hail from the Midwest. (And yes, I do have a funny accent)
I'm a typical 20-something college student - always busy, pretty stressed out, but always optimistic for the better future I hope to help create.

Other Information:
I am trying to get into old hobbies I had (eating disorders tend to destroy your interests, relationships, and life in general), such as piano playing, reading, volunteering with animals, etc. Hopefully, with this healthy lifestyle change, I will rediscover some of my old passions.

I just changed my major again - magazine journalism with a minor in politics. I love politics, and am interested in investigative journalism.

Welcome to the team. The more you participate and explore the site the more support you'll find. Dealing with Depression is easier with others although at times that is the last thing you may want to do. Keep reaching out.

"The future comes one day at a time" Dean Acheson

Remember that progress is made one small victory at a time. Every little bit that you do brings you that much closer to your goal.

Keep battling on,

“Worrying does not empty tomorrow of its troubles…it empties today of its strength” Aunt Linda

Live in the present, that is what it is - a present.

“Unless we can hear each other singing and crying, unless we can comfort each other's failures and cheer each other's victories, we are missing out on the best that life has to offer. The only real action takes place on the bridge between people.” Anonymous
