My name is Kim. I've been overweight or obese for most of my life. I started getting really big with my first pregnancy. I decided I would be a stay at home mom and the pounds just started piling up. I would try to lose weight here and there, only to gain it all back and thensome.

I was diagnosed with diabetes in Feb. 2009 and was put on insulin and a host of other meds for diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure. At first, I just let myself think, as long as it didn't have sugar, it was okay to eat. I put on 30 more pounds in the next 3 months. My hands started to go numb and hurt at night, I couldn't sleep.
One morning, I got up and got on my treadmill and started walking. That was in September 2009. I never looked back. I am walking 6 days a week for a total of 24 miles and eating healthier than I ever have. I have lost 113 pounds so far, 28 of that was with Spark People.
I didn't find Spark People until January, and I'm so glad I did. The support and tools on here are the BEST! I love it here and I will continue to use it after I meet my goal to help maintain my weight loss! Thank you SP!!
Update 6-27-2010
I have now lost 140 lbs and I'm up to about 32 miles per week. I've been kinda stuck on my weight loss for about the last 3-4 weeks. I've been losing and gaining the same 3 lbs. I'm not going to let it stop me from reaching for my goal of 140 lbs. Even if I never get there, which I hope I do, I'll be okay with it. I've never been where I am now and I don't plan on going back to where I was!
