Getting It Back!

UPDATE 1/21/12: This is my week 3 weigh-in date. They say it takes three weeks to begin to turn something into a habit. I'm so proud of myself. I've lost 13 lbs. and been consistant with tracking foods, monitoring what I eat, adding more and more exercise into my routine, and staying focused on being healthy and making better choices. I really feel like this really IS the last time I'll have to make the weight "loss" journey. I'm commited. This will be my last journey of loss, to be ...
This will be my last journey of loss, to be replaced soon by a commitment to maintenance.

Up to this point in my life, I've been a chubby-to-overweight person with short (but shining!) episodes of thinness. In other words, I'm a typical yo-yo dieter. I've been thin--size 4 or 6. I've been overweight--size 14-16. Sometimes I think it's harder to have ONCE been thin, know what it's like, and want so desparately to be there and stay there than it is to just be overweight. But I've also come to the realization (FINALLY!) that there won't be a "second time around" in life and I'm NOT going to have a Fairy Godmother who will miraculously bless me with a thin body. I'm a thin person inside. She's in there--I want her to come out and STAY out. I know that it's gonna take work. Lots and lots of work. And sweat. And determination. And the understanding that I can't maintain bad eating habits and expect to magically be thin. I'm ready to live a new, healthier lifestyle. I guess that's what I really want--to make LOSING weight the journey and MAINTAINING the weight loss my final destination.

Thank you for the comments on both my blog and my page! I appreciate the honesty you shared in your comment on my blog, and the insight you gave about considering the lifestyle of being healthy, and not the short-term diet aspect. I wish you all the best! =)
