Most people find a cancer diagnosis to be a wake-up call and change to a healthier lifestyle. When I was diagnosed, I expected the same thing to happen to me, but here I am 3 years later and heavier than ever. If cancer couldn't motivate me to lose, what will? But ever the optimist, I keep trying. Between sleep apnea, lymphedema, and obesity contributing to a recurrence of my breast cancer, I have plenty of reasons to lose. I hope the support from this group will be the shove that I need.

My Goals:
I want to lose weight in order to:
-decrease my risk of breast cancer recurring;
-lower my cholesterol;
-cure the sleep apnea and stop using my CPAP;
-get my lymphedema under control so I can stop using the pump and wrapping everyday; and
-stop taking anti-depressants.

My Program:
The plan is to eat smaller meals, cut out as much sugar as possible, have dessert only once a week, and stick to whole grains as opposed to processed. As for exercise, I want to walk for 30 minutes 6 days a week, but am hoping we get a treadmill so I don't have to go outside in the cold.

Other Information:
For me, a healthy weight is better than any anti-depressant in the world.

Hey friend, was just thinking about you.

Have you seen any pain relief or progress with your Acupuncture for Lymphedema? Fortunately, I didn't have that problem, but I have other friends that do. Would love to share any good results with them. Hope things are going well for you. emoticon

"Beautiful Woman Award! Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the wall of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out"

emoticon Hi Cindy,

Thank you for the beautiful flowers, you really made my day.

I am really struggling to get my exercise in. I just can't get motivated, and I live in florida for heavens sake. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement and good luck with your new "lifestyle". You are the emoticon
