CHRISTMAS LETTER 2009

Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to everyone!

Has a year past already? It goes by so fast and so much has happened that it is hard to know where to start.

Merry Christmas and a Very Happy New Year to everyone!

Has a year past already? It goes by so fast and so much has happened that it is hard to know where to start.
The adoption was final May 7, 2009, just in time for my first Mother's Day. We had a great Adoption Day with friends and family coming to court with us and then we went to Kemah that afternoon to celebrate. Isaiah looked so handsome for court in his suit and even got to sit in the judge's chair. We had a very special Mother's Day at church with flowers and a picture too.

Isaiah likes to keep busy so the YMCA Camp BIGFOOT was a good fit for the summer. He got to swim almost everyday which he loved. He says he wants to go back next year both to YMCA and KAA (Kids Across America) camp. Just because summer is over doesnˇ¦t mean we don't stay busy with Cub Scouts, AWANA at church and karate among other activities during the school year. In karate he has gone from white to yellow to orange belt. He almost has enough money saved to rank up again and get his green belt.

I asked Isaiah shortly before the adoption was final how he liked being an only child and he told me he didn't as he was lonely. Anyone who knows me very well, knows I'm usually quite a procrastinator so I can only say it must be God who got me busy pursuing another adoption. It was also God who gave us favor with DePelchin so that we could get an exception to their policy to wait at least a year after the adoption is final before starting another adoption. We hope to get a brother for Isaiah close to his age ASAP.

Isaiah got to meet his grandparents, Aunt Joyce, Uncle James, Great Aunt Eveline and several cousins (and they him) this summer. We had a great and very busy time in Missouri at the end of June. He caught a 14 pound catfish out of grandpa's lake and named him Sammy. We really enjoyed the fish as Uncle James did an excellent job frying him up and as an added bonus he is going to preserve the skull and give to Isaiah our next visit. He really loved getting to see his Uncle Earl again and getting a cell phone from him as an early birthday gift. Isaiah turned the Big DD this year in Aug. Yep, he is in the Double Digits at 10 now.

He got his braces just before the 4th of July. It has been interesting having to cut everything into bite size pieces to eat and we sometimes forget. He's a real trouper and complains very little about the braces or anything really. OK, maybe about homework and taking baths but not too much and I admit I complain some about the homework myself. He's a great kid and that helps make me look like a good mom.

Pebbles had his first birthday also in Aug. He has calmed down a little especially after being neutered but still chews on a lot of things he shouldn't. He hasnˇ¦t chewed much on cords for a while and we suspect he got a little shock the last time he attacked the lamp cord. He still thinks he is alpha dog and I keep working to get him to accept me as pack leader. We started watching the Dog Whisper and I think there is hope for us yet as I know it is more about my training than his.

That's a few of the highlights from our year.

May God richly bless your life as He has ours! Love to all our friends and family.

Kathy and Isaiah Hampton

Hi Kathy! Glad to hear that you will be getting a brother for Isaiah! Please post a picture when you are all home together! Sorry about your weight! So easy to gain, way TOO easy! I am doing well. Life is a little crazy at times and the girls are busy - last year of elementary school - lots of changes etc. I am very happy for you Kathy! What a blessing you will be to those 2 boys!
Love, Kriste

It was great hearing from you Kathy! Love the update. I am so happy that the adoption worked out. Wish you was able to get on here more often, but I understand being busy with kids, especially as a single parent. Best wishes in the second adoption. Keep me posted and I will be praying. Love you! Kim
