I'm now 62, grandma of 6 and I've been on Spark people for 9 years.
I've got arthritis and diabetes that would both be made better if I lost weight. I was very weak when i joined but I'm stronger this year, and feeling stronger I think I should be able to start loosing weight instead of just hoping. so far, no weight loss to speak of, but I'm always working toward more functional fitness. No matter my weight, being able to get around without pain or fatigue is a major goal. Recently found that Gluten seems to make my joints hurt, which is good information. I'm doing much better about leaving it alone which means less pain, YAY
Loose 14 lbs by Christmas.
Strengthen main muscle groups so I can walk without pain in back or joints.
Ride bike, hike
If my knees allow, Jump rope & run.
My dream is to hike the Grand Canyon.

I grew up in Colorado Springs, CO and have a brother and 3 sisters.
I'm married, & have three daughters and five grandkids.I like to sew, read and go to church. I used to hike a lot in Colorado and want to get strong enough to do that again. I miss it.
I can't say what my favorite book is except for the Bible.
I have favorite authors, Georgette Heyer, Louis LAmour, but not really a favorite book.
I'm that way about music as well. I have a lot of faves in many genres, but my favorite genre is Hymns.

Old Groundhog stretched in his leafy bed.

Here's the deal! The First Day of Spring is 6 weeks from Groundhog Day no matter what he sees. Let's use the six weeks to make a big difference in our goals. Let's not hibernate. Let's get busy and make February a month we love our bodies and work to get and keep them in great shape!

I feel I often don't know what my contribution is meant to be. My students at school don't respond well to me and I am not close to my family nor did I marry or have children. I know I could spend some time volunteering, but thst doesn't seem the same as sharing with others who know me. But I know I'm not alone in these concerns, and it is not over!
