Hi, I'm Kathryn. I've finally accepted the fact that losing weight is no longer the easy process it used to be when I was younger. The combination of menopause and mid-life crisis threw me into a depression . I turned to food for comfort and the pounds started to creep up. Initially I was looking for the perfect diet or "magic pill" to lose the weight. Thankfully a health crisis brought me to my senses and with much support and prayers I got on track with a healthy lifestyle. Been a member of SP since Aug 2008 and it has been a blessing. It helps me stay on course from one day to the next and gives me the accountability which was sorely lacking before.. Each morning I say to myself "How can I honor God today?" Part of that requires that I put healthy food in my body (His Temple) and keep as fit as I can. I find that the more my perspective and attitude line up with His will the easier it is to live a healthy life - but I have a long way to go still.

UPDATE Jan 2015

I've been all over the map in the past 6 1/2 years. I knew that changing bad habits and establishing a healthy lifestyle would not be easy, but I did not think it would be this hard. The hardest part for me is staying motivated. I need accountability - that's the best thing about SP, it will keep me honest. I have slacked off and my weight and health have suffered but there is no option but to get back on track or fall farther behind ( and I've got way too much "behind" already)

Hi Kathryn! I hope you are doing better then I am this year! I just can't change my yoyo effect! I do real good and then gain it all back! I really need to focus before I waste another year in the Obese category!
I joined TOPS a few weeks ago to get some one on one instructions and I am still waiting! lol!
I am getting back on the trail with my trike and Copper emoticon ! Even have a trolley attached so she can ride when she gets tired--she would rather run but she is getting used to it!
Take care of you! emoticon Kathleen

Thanks for your tea invitation! How I wish I COULD have tea with SP friends. I do have one team friend close to where we live. We got together once, and really enjoyed it, but we haven't repeated it yet.

My husband has colon cancer with 3/4 of his treatments completed, so that has dominated our lives for a while. The main challenge is that he has to eat well, but has a choosy palate, and I sometimes just give up and eat along with him, all the fattening foods he craves.. Last month I dropped all restraint and gained four pounds, so I'm picking MYself up and starting over, too. His metabolism is such that he has never gained as easily as me. Lesson learned.

Thanks for checking in, and you know it never matters how many times you fail... only how many times you get started again.

    Y.

I appreciate your comments on my Obsession blog. Your comments resonate of deep insightful truth. Beauty is found in the soul. I am working towards moving my body back towards health. The Holy Spirit dwells in me, and I want His home to not be a junkyard.

Thank you for your kind words on my recent blog. I love the snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. That's a great phrase and I need to stop doing that. There has to be one too about never starting because of fear too.

This time in Spark I am reaching out to the community. One of my teams is Treasure Trove. They are new, but a lot of positive energy. Check them out if you get a chance.

    May your week be blessed.

    Hey KickingIt,

Still here and still hanging tough - been maintaining for 4 years now, though I did gain a little weight over the past few months - back up to 126 pounds, so need to get back down to under 120. I know I can do it though, I did it once I can do it again.
