My Big Fat Greek Life

I have struggled with my weight since I graduated college, and I would really like to make a life style change and learn to stay healthy instead of the yo-yo dieting I always fall into.
My biggest challenge has been portion control. I come from a big family of BIG eaters. My biggest goal is to learn how to eat smaller meals, and not have my life revolve around food.

My Goals:
I would like to lose weight and become healthier. Diabetes and heart disease run in both sides of my family, so I need to do something now to prevent these.

I want to feel good in new clothes and regain the confidence I had in my body before I put on weight.

I want to look good in pictures, not have to always be the one to take them so I can throw out the ones that I look like a cow in!

My Program:
I joined Spark and a challenge.

My work offers a program to motivate employees to be healthy. If you take fewer breaks, you can take 30 min out of the day, paid, and go work out. For the first month this was great incentive. I took my 30 min at the end of the day, and would sometimes workout for 2 hours! But then I started slacking. So my goal now is to do at least 1hr 5 times a week for my exercise program.

I am also (slowly) learning portion control. And to only eat when I am hungrey.

emoticon for sharing your moussaka recipe. Eggplant is one of those vegetables I'd like to eat more often but basic eggplant parmesan just doesn't cut it. Looking forward to trying it! emoticon

Dear Khilkey,
I wanted to say that your moussaka recipe was INCREDIBLE!!
I gave it a 5 stars on the reviews.
Except I didn't know how to determine a serving, I have portion issues ;) so I estimated I had 2.5 servings.

Hi -
Being healthy is one of my biggest reasons for wanting to lose weight and I noticed it's one of yours too. I just wanted to send you a word of encouragement. I've been at it just over 3 months now and I am feeling better. I was in shock when I found out how much I weighed. It's crazy how quick weight can sneak up on you. Since my wedding 5 years ago I put on so much...but it's coming off now.
BTW - I really think you look beautiful in your pictures on your page. Keep working at it and someday soon you will like what you see too. Good Luck!!!
