Oi - have barely started. Went shopping this weekend to an outlet mall for some clothing items I needed -- comfy shoes, shirts, etc. Haven't even started on the extra stuff like toiletries, meds, etc.
To top it off, my bosses decided it would be an excellent week for me to give group meeting at lab. That usually entails at least 10-15 hours of work putting together a presentation and presenting it. And the class I'm grading for is having an exam on the Monday before Thanksgiving. It's great money to grade for the class, but I now have to grade over 170 exams (10+ pages each) between next Monday afternoon and the Wednesday we leave for Thanksgiving.
I need a shot of adrenaline and about 100 extra hours this week to get it all done. But on the bright side, once we hit India, I will not have my laptop nor my cell phone. So I am incommunicado from all work and work related stuffs for 2 weeks. I'm looking forward to it. 1962 days ago
I wanted to say thanks for commenting on the blog I did yesterday. (About me feeling crummy about that homeless guy.)
And I agree that sometimes it's frustrating when you try and help out, give $$, only to see that person buying liqueur or some such thing.
In my case the other day though, we were standing right near all the food carts. The guy was definitely not asking for money. He really wanted food to eat. And that is what made me chastise myself.
Anyway, I do feel a bit better about things today. Thanks again for commenting.
Oh . . . one more thing ~ I also know that not everyone can afford to give $$$ or other things. So when someone who is having to make ends meet . . . but still manages to give (like you!), it makes it all the more impressive. 1995 days ago
Do you have any Premium Outlet locations near you?
My local outlet centers have a web site, and signing up with their VIP club to get "behind the velvet rope" on the site accesses coupons for almost every store. The stores I went to were part of the Crossings Premium Outlets in Tannersville, PA.
I actually set up a separate e-mail address just for coupons and special deals with online or retail stores. When I know I'm going shopping or need something special, I check that e-mail's mail for coupons and deals. It is the only address that I give for that purpose, so it's much easier than "sorting" on my regular e-mail account, and the spam can be minimized when I have the time to unsubscribe from the vendors who abuse the address and over-send every day. Also, I'm not tempted to shop too much because it's not going to the e-mail address I check daily.
