After using SparkPeople to lose almost 40 lbs during 2011, I found maintaining my healthy habits and goal weight fairly easy using everything that I learned during that time. My life has changed a lot since I first signed up, weighing over 180lbs and wanting to try something different. I was a student at university, living in Canada and dreaming of being in Australia with my love.

My life has changed a lot since I first signed up, weighing over 180lbs and wanting to try something different. I was a student at university, living in Canada and dreaming of being in Australia with my love.
Now I am very happily settled in Broome, Australia and recently engaged to that amazing man. My life is very relaxed and laid back in this little beach-y tourist town and I have recently let some of my healthy habits relax a little as well. Nothing major but I find myself 10lbs heavier than I would like and feeling lazy a little too often. I want to feel excited about my fitness and healthy lifestyle again so I have returned to SparkPeople for a little tune up!

I'm really excited to be in the best shape of my life for my wedding as I want to start this next chapter feeling happy, healthy and strong. I know I can achieve my goals because I have already obtained more than I thought possible with the support of this program and the people on it. Can't wait to get going!

I just turned 25 and have come to realize that the habits that I am forming now will be the ones that continue with me into the future. I am at a point in my life where things are starting to change. I am finishing up my last year in my second degree to become a teacher, I am planning to move to Australia to live with the most wonderful, generous man I have ever met, and I want to take healthier habits with me into this new life. I also know that in the not so distant future I want to have children and want to be sure that my body is as healthy as it can be and that I have the knowledge and practice of the skills that I want to teach my children. I want to feel strong and healthy and know that I am in control of my own body. Knowing that I am no longer at the age where my body can just bounce back from careless periods and neglect.

I have always had my weight in the back of my mind. I really thought that if I just tried I could lose those extra pounds, that I knew what to do but was just not ready to do it yet. Now I know that I don't have all the answers and that what I have always done is what has gotten me to the point I am at now. I need the support and knowledge of others who have been there to help me learn what to do. The thing that I am loving the most about using sparkpeople is that I am becoming more aware. I am aware of what I am eating, aware of how much I am moving, aware of the areas I was neglecting, aware of the things that I can do to get me to where I want to be. I am also aware that these things take time. I didn't gain the weight in a day, it is not going to disappear over night. I am going to try to do my best every day and not get down on myself if things don't go perfectly. I am also aware that I am not yet willing to give up some of the bad habits. I do hope that by swapping a few of those bad habits for good ones over time I will learn more and weigh less.

My goal is to weigh 155lbs by Christmas. That wonderful man from down under is coming to visit and we are going on (another) amazing trip. While I am not losing the weight for him, it is just a time period that can motivate me. I would love to wear a two piece bathing suit during that trip, something that I have never felt comfortable doing in my life. While that is my current long term goal, my mini goal is to lose a pound a week. I know that I may have some ups and downs with that but I know it is attainable and will help me stay on course. My weigh in is on Mondays, which means that those bad habits that sneak up on the weekend won't be masked. Knowing this will keep me honest, I need to make sure I am not lying to myself.

My Program:
I am paying close attention to what I am eating every day. I am packing food to take to work and trying new healthier recipes. I am monitoring the portion sizes I am eating and no longer eating mindlessly.

I am walking on my lunch hour, joined the 28 day bootcamp challenge and am trying to live a more active lifestyle.
