Sticking With It

After a stressful year including a cross country move I find myself at my highest weight. I discovered SparkPeople and I am hooked. I love the nutrition and fitness trackers and the SparkPoints. I have not had a lot of success losing weight yet, but I am determined to stick with it and I can tell I am making many small lifestyle changes that I am sure will begin to add up.

UPDATE 10/20/07 - I have lost 13 pounds so far and really feel like I am on a roll. I can truly envision ...

UPDATE 10/20/07 - I have lost 13 pounds so far and really feel like I am on a roll. I can truly envision myself reaching my goal now. The beginning of August I started being really consistent with exercising 4-5 times a week and staying in my calorie range. The month of August was a little frustrating because I felt the scale was not reflecting my effort, but since then I have consistently been losing 1-3 pounds a week. It is starting to add up! I am fitting back into pants that I have not worn in 2 years. If you are feeling discouraged please remember that consistency is key and if you keep with it the weight will come off.

UPDATE - 1-14-07
Due to vacations and holidays I hit a bit of a plateau losing only a few pounds from mid-November through the beginning of January. I am now back on track and the scale is moving down once again. In all I have lost 24 pounds since August! I am now officially "Overweight" and no longer "Obese" according to my BMI. "Healthy BMI" the final frontier!

My Goals:
I am working towards losing 50 pounds. (I am almost half way there now!)

I would like to have more energy. (I definitely have improved my fitness level.)

I am hoping to be able to run a full 5K by April.

I look forward to feeling comfortable in a bathing suit at my annual family trip to the Outer Banks in July.

My Program:
I have upped my exercise to 4-5 days of cardio (30-60 minutes a day) and 2-3 days of strength training (20-30 mins.) I aim to burn at least 2000 calories through exercise each week.

Because I have upped my exercise, Spark upped my calories. My current range is 1390 - 1730 calories a day. It took a little getting used to. I am averaging about 1450 calories a day.

Personal Information:
I am a stay at home mom with two kids and a great husband. I am determined to get into better shape so I can keep up with them. I enjoy scrapbooking, reading and socializing.

Yanno, aside from Spark Guy, lol you were my first friend on this site. So that makes you even more special. To see what you've done and how far you've come, and the few downfalls you've had and stomped all over, helps me to know this works. I just think you ROCK girl. emoticon
