Making time for ME...

Every pound is the next goal. I'm not sure why I've waited so long to do this.
Better late than never...

This website is such an amazing source of motivation, support and resources. I am really enjoying having all of that at my fingertips (I still can't believe it's free)

Even if I never lose another pound, the changes I have made will stay with me forever. That doesn't mean I'll never have bad days...it means that the bad days will pass and I'll keep on ...

Secrets to my success so far...

Water, water, water...and more water!

Exercise - now that's nothing new and definitely not rocket science!

Tracking my food daily - I can't always make time to log in here to record my nutrition so I often use a pen and paper.

Sparkrecipes - help bite the boredom of eating the same old food

SPICES of all kinds!!! Just because something is low fat doesn't mean it has to have no taste. I have learned alot in the last year or so about tailoring my food to my taste so even I forget that it's healthy - even when I'm the one that cooked it!!

Salad is my new addiction. Especially when I get close to going over my nutrition targets. I love to add a serving of flavoured shredded cheese to give it a kick.

Measure EVERYTHING I eat!! Because I am a cheater. I sadly admit that I will always cheat at how much food I give myself if I can get away with it. So, now I measure everything from the milk in my cereal to spaghetti to Cool Whip. I count out crackers and tortilla chips (although I don't eat them very often)

Make it worth it! I am a stooge when it comes to giving up calories. I love to eat things that I can fill up on without having the calories add up.

My Goals:
To make healthy choices, get more exercise, spend less time at work and more time with my family.

SW - 257 lbs
Goal 235 - July 31, 2008 (goal met)
Goal 230 - August 16, 2008
Goal 225 - August 31, 2008
Goal 220 - Sept. 15, 2008

My Program:
I have been a non-smoker for two years and counting. I have pretty much given up drinking coffee (at work, we used to drink upwards of ten cups/day).

Drink at least 10 cups of water/day.
Consume an average of 1700 calories per day.
Exercise 5 days/week.

Get more involved outside with my kids - bike riding, soccer, swimming, walking

Now the program is to make that my habit.

Personal Information:
I originally started Sparkpeople in early 2007. When I hit what I thought was a plateau, I found out I was actually pregnant with our third child. I had been making great progress but I stopped my weight loss program until after the baby was born. Now I am the mother of three beautiful boys, living in NW Ontario.
My husband has put up with me for over ten years!!

Thanks for commenting on my page. We are definitely well into fall here. The leaves have all changed colour and are falling fast and the weather has taken a turn for the colder. It feels like winter is not far off. Yuck!
You are doing fabulous on your weight loss. Congrats on the pounds lost so far. Keep it up.

I love your page, and find your weight loss inspiring. I, too, am now measuring foods... something I used to laugh at. To me, it seemed so obvious how much a cup was (boy was I wrong). Keep up the great work!

Hi Kerri,
Thanks so much for checking in. Sounds like you’re at about the same place as me. In a bit of a rut. Hopefully, once you get the kids back to school you can get back on track. I don’t like making my OWN lunch so I can understand you not liking to make them for the kids.
The new TV season will be starting soon so you can hop on the treadmill and lose yourself in bad TV .. you just have to wait for a couple of weeks .. you can do it. The idea of walking to school with the kids is great one. Are the kids excited to go back? So, you and me ... beginning of Sept. back on track ? What do you say ? Be there or be square .. ha ha ha

Hi ya,
The weekend was good. I wish it was still the weekend and not Monday at work :(
The weather here was spectacular.
I hear ya on getting into a food rut … oh wait a minute ..no I don’t … as I’m not paying attention to what I eat …bad C.J. bad !!! That is my problem … the eating … I really have to get that under control as my weight loss has been stalled for a long time. I’m doing well on the exercise but suck on the eating … arrgh !!!
Good for you on setting such a good example for your kids. They’ll be so much better for it !!
You’re thinking of getting another dog ? Well I’ve got 2 great dogs I can drop off at your place anytime. They’re really well behaved and not at all spoiled hee hee hee
