I have struggled with my weight nearly my entire life. When I made a move to Fresno from Sacramento in 2002, I was in awesome shape and felt good about myself. Well, the move was difficult and my comfort zone was gone and I slowly put on about 65 pounds since then.

I originally joined Spark last year (2008) and didn't follow through...as I have done thousands of times.

Now my 30th birthday is getting very close (July) and I really want to make my 30's the best years (so far). I have done some realistic calculating and have set my birthday goal to have lost 35 pounds or more. I KNOW that, if I remain motivated and DEDICATED, I can reach this goal and then push on even further. I know it is hard work but I am really excited to start seeing the person in the mirror reflect the person inside me.

My Goals:
My long term goal is to have lost my extra 58 pounds by Christmas 2009.

My mid range goal is to have lost 35 pounds by my 30th birthday in July.

My overall goal is to stick to my guns and maintain a healthy lifestyle so I don't go down this road again.


My Program:
I am tracking EVERYTHING (which is working REALLY well) and doing some kind of activity every day. Sometimes it is walking to my son's baseball games the the school almost a mile away, yard work, or my turbo jam videos (which are SO much fun and really work your stuff...especially the ab jam...ouch).



Personal Information:
I have tried so many variations of my diet...vegetarian, high protein/low carbs, no wheat products, fasting. The reasons range from weight loss to digestive problems. So far, the one that has worked best for me is tracking my food daily and eating balanced healthy items and not eating ingredients that I know don't agree with my body. I find that I eat very little meat (personal choice for me) and get my protein through eggs, cheese and beans.

I am also married and a motherof three stepchildren...ages 10, 13, and 18 (10&13 live with us) and we have two big dogs and two big cats. It is a pretty busy household and I am the chef for everyone.

Between working part time as an academic counselor and instructor with a junior college, running errands, picking up kids, and managing my portion of the household...I am setting up "me" time to make sure that I take care of myself physically as well as psychologically. I'm sure you all know that this isn't easy. But, I am dedi

    I'm glad to see you've already been active on the team! One of the great things about teams is how they support us, and we can get and give information too!

    As you work through the diet stages, be sure to ask questions, share ideas. There are hurdles, challenges, and detours... but none are roadblocks unless we let them become that. And every hurdle is a chance to grow stronger if we meet the challenge head on.
