Getting a makeover, from the inside out.

It's about the journey, not the destination. And this journey is life long.

2013 is about me, being made new, from the inside out. It's about motivation and perseverance. It's also about struggles and defeat, disappointment and setbacks, but most importantly it's about discovery and change.

The low points are when we learn and grow, so this year I'm embracing them. My setbacks will not keep me down. I will reflect on the reason I made the choices I did, and figure ...

A little about me: I'm 35 years old, married, had our first & only baby (a boy) in March 2009. I was able to lose all of my pregnancy weight shockingly quickly, but have a long way to go for the rest of it. I'm 5'6" and starting January 4, 2010, have 135 lbs to lose to reach my goal. I work full time in a research lab at a local University.

****Jan 1, 2011 - Dec 31, 2011: No gain, no loss.****
****Jan 1, 2012 - Dec 31, 2012: Gained 40 lbs.****

My Goals:
Short term:
Get down to 199. Weight Reward: New running sneakers.

Long term:
Lose 135 lbs.

Exercise at least 15 minutes every day.

Be light enough to wear high heels again.

Wear skirts without my thighs starting a friction fire.

Wear shorts comfortably.

Wear tank tops comfortably.

Not have to buy dresses with sleeves or wear a sweater over sleeveless stuff.

Run. I mean full out sprint with out my body shaking so hard that it feels like things will fall off.

Fit places with room to spare - plane seats, theme park rides, between clothing racks at stores, bathroom stalls, etc.

Be comfortable in my own skin.

Sit with my legs crossed.

Sleep without my hands falling asleep at night.

My Program:
Portion control, eating the correct balance of foods, organic whenever possible, no preservatives, no dyes, no chemical additives, no HFCS, minimal corn and soy based foods (GMOs), minimal white carbs, and cardio at least 15 minutes every single day. No excuses!

Yes he turned 1 yesterday! We had a great party at the park and he was in a great mood (especially since I timed it right after his morning nap) and he just hammed it up for everyone, didn't like the cake very much and it was just a perfect day - thanks for asking!! He is starting to walk a bit and is just so much fun!

Yeah I agree, slow and steady is what my key is as well...and I know that in my mind but I get frustrated when the results don't happen fast enough but I like your 15 minutes of fitness a day...I focus too much on getting in three 60 min sessions a week and the pressure seems so overwhelming at times...I might have to switch it up! You sound like you are in a good place right now, I hope you are enjoying your summer! the challenge is going well, it's keeping me good most of the time but I could be doing better but it's life I guess!! You take care!!
