"Life is like a box of chocolates!"
When Forrest Gump said that line while sitting on a park bench, I thought the comment was loaded. Whenever my husband would buy me a box of chocolates, I delighted in biting into each one to savor the new treat hidden inside the chocolate shell. Some pieces were just plain yucky to me, but I made the commitment to eat it with that first bite, so with a grimace, I finished the piece and searched for the yummy one. Sometimes I would go through about 2 or 3 questionable chocolates before I found the one that made me close my eyes with pleasure. My weightloss journey has been like a box of chocolates. From being that skinny girl in class that no boy would look at to being that "cute" girl that could lose a few pounds. After some troubling relationships in my 20's, I turned to food for comfort. To combat the weight, I bit the gym chocolate. That piece was delightful and I eat that one often. I tried the Slim-fast chocolate and that one was tasty at first until I realized the results were not lasting. After a belly full of chocolates with names of diets and plans that were not beneficial for lasting results, I came across the nutrition chocolate. I had nibbled on this piece before, but I had forgotten what it looked like. Now I eat that one everyday. As I move forward on my weighloss journey, I savor the fitness chocolates that help me so in the end the real chocolate I savor won't be so devasting to my goal. By the way, dark chocolate is the healthier chocolate to delight in. lol

My Goals:
My goal is to stay healthy, get stronger, and to get to the end of my ticker. I have lost the baby weight. When I got to the weight I was when I met my husband, I was estatic. Now I'm smaller than that. But as I look at my ticker, I'm thinking it is time to loose the freshman 15. It's been 23 years since I was a freshman in college. I can actually do this. If I ramp up my program, I may do it before my 20 year class reunion in 2009. Hmmmm! My short term goal is to run a 5K in the fall.
My Program:
Diet: I stick to grilled, baked, and broiled chicken, turkey, and fish. Brown rice and steamed vegetables accompany my meals. 8+ glasses of water on top of other drinks (1% milk, coffee, tea). I don't deny myself a thing. If I have a craving, I satisfy it and move on. Moderation is key. I try to avoid processed foods, trans fats, "enriched" products, and anything fried. Occasionally I count calories for 2 weeks to fine tune my diet. Excercise: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday Running 3.5 miles Bellydancing (30-60min) Yoga Strength Training Saturday Step (60 min) Strength Training Elliptical Sunday Elliptical Strength Training class (60 min) Spin (60 min)
Personal Information:
I'm a married SAHM of 2 boys under the age of 5 from Southern California. I'm a good 15 minutes away from the beach and 30 minutes from the mountains. I love working out in the morning while the household is asleep. That's my 100% alone time when I can pound the pavement, listen to my music, and plan my day. I love going to the gym. Before marriage and baby carriages, I was a 5-6 days a week gym rat. I could easily spend 2+ hours in the gym without a complaint.
