I've been off and on Spark People since 2009. I got back on in Aug 2012 and finally reached my goal weight on November 25, 2012.

Now is the hard part for me, staying active and continuing to eat healthy. It would be so easy for me slip back into my couch potato, snacking habits!

I believe in baby steps to reach any goal. Small, healthy, smart changes every single day. I don't always have time for a long workout.

I like to to break up my activity throughout the day to keep calorie burn and metabolism working for me all day long. I also believe in rest days. Muscles need a rest to repair and strengthen.

I want to continue to work on staying strong and healthy, not skinny. I watched my mom suffer with many health problems and no muscle tone to help her get through a day. I want to avoid that in my old age!

    I am a terrible cook too - for the soup recipe, all I did was bring about 8 cups of veggie broth to a boil, added chopped veggies (onion, carrots, celery - about 1.5-2 cups, didn't measure) simmered/boiled for ten minutes, added a cup of barley and simmered/boiled another ten minutes - then added one can of cannelini beans and one can cream of celery soup, stirred it up to heat the beans (if they boil/cook too much they get mushy) - that was it! I'm sure you could add meat and/or different veggies if you wanted to.
