2017 Update - I reached my goal weight November 25, 2012. Lately I've been hovering just above goal weight but that's ok. I have not slipped into old habits and that is huge!

I no longer define myself by the scale. That took some doing let me tell you! It's not about being skinny for me. It's about strength and endurance now. I watched my mom suffer the last years of her life from her sedentary lifestyle. I want to avoid that in my old age!

I still believe in baby steps to reach any goal. Small, healthy, smart changes every single day. That's how I started on SparkPeople and that's how I continue to maintain my goals.

I like to to break up my activity throughout the day to keep calorie burn and metabolism working for me all day long. I also believe in rest days. Muscles need a rest to repair and strengthen.

SparkPeople is such a positive experience for me. I look forward to reading blogs to inspire me. I keep my SparkFriends in my head when I'm out to eat or when I'm pushing through a tough run or workout. Everyone keeps me moving.

Keep moving forward!

Thank you for taking the time to read and comment on my blog, Delighting in Physical Activity. And, based on your comments you sound like a woman with the spirit of my mother ... and that's a supreme compliment. Thanks. I appreciate you!

Thanks for the bloglove. Isn't it funny how many of us can be on that same page - the 5 lbs off page - the one where we know that if we don't do something soon - we'll be sliding back up the scale? Well - met my goals for day #1. Off to day #2 I go.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment on my blog, especially regarding those who in addition to their own families have responsibilities to elderly parents.

Thank you for your comments on my blog. It's wonderful to know I'm not alone with the "weigh day" ritual. I love what you wear for your weigh day, but unfortunately if I wore my birthday suit I'd have to shut my eyes and then I couldn't see the scale.
