2017 Update - I reached my goal weight November 25, 2012. Lately I've been hovering just above goal weight but that's ok. I have not slipped into old habits and that is huge!

I no longer define myself by the scale. That took some doing let me tell you! It's not about being skinny for me. It's about strength and endurance now. I watched my mom suffer the last years of her life from her sedentary lifestyle. I want to avoid that in my old age!

I still believe in baby steps to reach any goal. Small, healthy, smart changes every single day. That's how I started on SparkPeople and that's how I continue to maintain my goals.

I like to to break up my activity throughout the day to keep calorie burn and metabolism working for me all day long. I also believe in rest days. Muscles need a rest to repair and strengthen.

SparkPeople is such a positive experience for me. I look forward to reading blogs to inspire me. I keep my SparkFriends in my head when I'm out to eat or when I'm pushing through a tough run or workout. Everyone keeps me moving.

Keep moving forward!

Thanks for the bloglove on my buddy post. I am pretty careful about what I say to her these days but when we are at a WW meeting and we're talking about our progress, our tips, our tools, I'm bound to express myself. I try to keep it general, though, not personal.

It's funny though - because her reaction when things don't go right is so very much "it's their fault" and mine is "It's my fault" Neither of us is always right nor always wrong - but I do think the person who thinks it's her fault believes she can do something about it and the person who thinks it's their fault tends to think there's nothing she can do. Just glad I have my Other Buddy to share my triumphs with. It's fun to share happy pride.
