Back Again - Again! Why do I do this????

I joined SP in 2006 and lost 28 pounds. At that point I thought I could continue losing on my own. I quit visiting the site every day and slowly I quit exercising, quit watching my portions and gained back 20 pounds. I started again in October 2008 and lost 26 pounds and again, I quit watching what I ate - yada - yada - yada... Okay - so now same song now 4th Verse - time to start again - AGAIN!! I can see the pattern - every two years or ...

I quit visiting the site every day and slowly I quit exercising, quit watching my portions and gained back 20 pounds. I started again in October 2008 and lost 26 pounds and again, I quit watching what I ate - yada - yada - yada... Okay - so now same song now 4th Verse - time to start again - AGAIN!! I can see the pattern - every two years or so - I lose the weight, I think I have made the "lifetime" changes I need and then I blow it.

I tried to start back again in November 2010 and then sprained my ankle badly. It stayed black and blue and swollen for a month and even now it still twinges. I am at the highest weight I have been in years and am so disgusted with myself. I am starting to log my food and exercise again - this always helps me to stay accountable - if only to myself. I am trying to make better choices but it is hard. Why does food that is bad for me tastes so good???

Found this in a SparkPeople motivational article and it is very true and something that I really need to remember:

You’re the only one who can decide what’s right for you; only you can change your attitude and perspective to match your personal reality.

The article was about getting away from the word Diet and moving toward a Lifestyle Change. Diets have a beginning and an ending - that is what gets me in trouble and causes me to regain any weight that I might lose - I reach my goal weight and I stop watching what I eat, start slacking off on the exercising, etc... I need to take the things that I learn on SparkPeople and just make them an every day part of my life.

I'll be the first person to say that I'm lazy, I don't like the thought of having to watch what I eat every day and exercising every day but if I want to be healthy and like who I see in the mirror, I will get on board and see this journey as a positive and lasting one - something that I can and will do.

My Goals:
Lose the same dang 20-25 pounds that I keep gaining back. I need to learn how to maintain the weightloss once I get there and not start overeating again.

Exercise - even if it is just walking on the treadmill.

Remember that I can't do it without SP!

My Program:
I am doing Spark People with my BFF - last time we did amazing - look at that picture - but work and life challenges have caused us to gain weight again. Pure laziness on my part was a big contributer to me regaining the weight... I know this journey would be much harder without Brenda encouraging me and keeping me honest.

Personal Information:
My name is Kelley and I live in Oklahoma. I am married with a 22 year old son and 13 year old step-daughter. We have two wonderful dogs and two crazy kittens - they all make me smile!! How sad life would be without pets!!

You are NOT eating enough food! Unless you didnt add all your food for yesterday! You have to eat at least 1200 calories a day. That way your body is fueled for your walking!!!!! emoticon
