9/16/11 - D-Day....

What a crappy couple of months. I've been plagued by injury (ankle and back) and have yet to bounce back completely. I have done little exercise and have eaten whatever falls in front of me. It's the honest truth, what can I say? I am unclear of my goals right now but decided today was the day to commit to restarting my journey (Decision Day). Hard hard truths but it's all part of the learning and growing......

Weight Goals:
Current weight – 183 pounds (gain of 12 pounds)
180 - 3 pounds - unknown goal date
165 - 15 pounds - unknown goal date

I'm guessing (ie hoping) that due to my recent gain, the moment I start back into an exercise routine that my weight loss should be rather quick. The body knows where it was and hopefully will bounce back. For now my goals are just to get started again.... Weighed myself on the WiiFit this morning and it felt like going home. It's a good start.

6/28/11 - Maintaining?....and Re-evaluating.

Three months since my last update and there isn't too much to report. I've maintained my weight around 175 and honestly, hardly step on the scale anymore. I feel like I haven't been working as hard on exercise and eating right but am somehow maintaining. I completed the bike tour with flying colors (woohoo!) and am trying to press on to build up my running for the duathlon. My goal right now is to re-evaluate and restart the momentum.....

Weight Goals:
Current weight – 171 pounds (weigh in was last week at the gym....but really, I'm not sure of the exact number).
170 – 1 pound (total 95 pounds) – August 2011 (pre-P90X)
165 – 5 pounds (total 100 pounds) – December 31/11

I'm so not concerned with numbers right now, just recording for consistency....am totally focussed on the races and building strength.

Exercise Goals:

This is still the biking and running. The duathlon comes up the first week of August. The biking, I'm sure, will be fine but the running scares me. I'm still focusing on my lower body and keeping it strong to get through. I've only worked out once since the bike tour and am fighting to get the motivation and momentum back......I'm thinking July will be my month! :)

Feel good Goals:

Size 10!! It's out there somewhere.....we're getting closer.....
Completing my races is the main feel good goal for me. I've finished a 5k and the bike tour.....I am going to sign up for another biking event (50km) and of course, the duathlon(s). This summer will go by quickly and I'm excited to see where I will be at by the end of it.

3/28/11 - 2 year Sparkiversary and hitting goal!

It's been an odd couple of months. I hit my goal!! That was the best part. My first major goal of weighing 175 came to be....and earlier than I was expecting (February 25 to be exact). It feels amazing. I'm hovering around the normal/overweight BMI line but most weigh-ins I hear the normal jingle (WiiFit) now. It's SO sweet. I hurt my back a few weeks ago and am still a little sore....it's taking a while to get better. But I'm focusing on the fitness goals I have for this year, taking it easy and hoping to push through it.

Weight Goals:
Current weight – 173 pounds
170 – 3 pounds (total 95 pounds) – August 2011 (pre-P90X)
165 – 5 pounds (total 100 pounds) – December 31/11

That's right....I adjusted my ticker to show my actual start weight (pre-Spark) so my new goal is to lose 100 pounds. I'm so not into the poundage goals right now. The more I concentrate on biking and running the more the weight will be maintained and/or go down, which is fine by me. I just looooove being at 175. :)

Exercise Goals:

My main exercise goal right now is biking and running. The MS bike tour is June 11 and 12 and the duathlon is in August or September. I'm really focusing on my lower body and keeping it strong to get through these challenges. I hate not being prepared for a race....I aim to prepare as much as I can the next couple of months to feel really good going into these events.

Feel good Goals:

There will be Easter in Winnipeg. If I maintain my weight this will be the smallest my family has ever seen me....plus my 2 best friends are home from abroad....haven't seen them in almost a year....there's at least a 10 pound difference there. :)
I'm thinking size 10.....
Completing my races is the main feel good goal for me. I'd like to get in another 5k this year and nail it....not peter out near the end like I did in October.

01/07/11 – the beginning of MY year.

Yep, this year, 2011, will be my year. I will reach my penultimate goal of weighing 165. I will conquer my weekend habits. I will become strong and slightly ripped. First milestone will be reached by my birthday (April 7)….hmmm, maybe even by my 2 year Sparkiversary (March 15). Sky’s the limit….let’s do it!!

Weight Goals:
Current weight – 178 pounds
175 – 3 pounds (total 75 pounds) – March 15/11
170 – 5 pounds (total 80 pounds) – August 2011 (pre-P90X)
165 – 5 pounds (total 85 pounds) – December 31/11

I decided to break this up a little. If I have to break it up further I will. I aim to focus on hitting 175 (my previous penultimate goal) by my birthday/Sparkiversary.

Exercise Goals:

My main exercise goal right now is to come up with a plan. I have so many options – Wii games, AquaFit, Spin, Jillian DVDs – I need a schedule. Even if I just plan month to month that will be my goal this month. Jillian’s 30 day slim down is top priority this month but I need to plan next month so I know what’s coming and have sufficient enough difference in exercises to shake up my weight loss. I also have to keep in mind my goal to complete a duathlon this year….running and biking!

Feel good Goals:

I want to fit in to my size 12 jeans hanging in my closet. Also fit in to a size 12 bathing suit. I dream of a 2 piece bathing suit.
I want to be more active on Spark to make a few friends (possibly in Edmonton) to exercise with and be accountable to.
I want to complete my frickin to do list for January – nothing to do with health – new condo insurance gotten, wedding dress dry cleaned, piano tuned, pet supplies restocked – the stress relief will be awesome!

12/19/10 - a week to Christmas in Winnipeg

After 4 years I will be spending Christmas with my family in Winnipeg. I had hoped to get to my goal weight of 175 but it is still alluding me. Weekends and food have been tough lately but I'm managing to stay on par with exercising. My thoughts are turning towards the New Year and all I can accomplish....it's time for me to reach my goal weight and get strong and toned....

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 178.5
175 - 3.5 pounds (total 75 pounds) - December 31/10
165 - 10 pounds (total 85 pounds) - December 31/11

I'm still going to try to hit my goal by the 31...with family things and dinners, etc, I may be pressing my luck. Alternate is March 31/10 - the month before my birthday (April 7). I may reach my goal of 165 before the end of next year....I just know that on December 31 of next year I want to see 165 on that scale.

Exercise Goals:

-Continue running.... I would like to work up to running the 5k without stopping....I am also still thinking about completing a duathlon in the summer.
-Strength train.....building muscle is a big goal for me along with cardio. I am slowly figuring out a routine of ST. I would like to develop something that I can be consistent with.
-I would like to try new things this year....something other than running and AquaFit, like tennis or badminton....continue going to spin classes regularly.

Feel good Goals:
-Buy a size 12 pant and fit in to it....ok, they are bought and are currently a VERY tight fit.....I plan to make them loose.
-I would one day like to wear a 2 piece bathing suit....eek, no one knows that secret!....for now a size 12 will do.
-Deal with my family crap effectively so I can live my life the best way possible....heading to Winnipeg.....update to follow!

10/3/10 - Gains!

So after getting married I fell off the wagon quite a bit. I've gained 5 pounds back this month. I haven't exercised nearly as much as I wanted to and have eaten whatever crap is within arm's reach. I'm surprised it's not a bigger gain! I've really struggled to find a goal after the wedding. It's still a struggle but today I gained a lot more than 5 pounds....I gained a whole bunch of confidence after running my first official 5k. It feels really good to know I can do it. So post wedding new goals....

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 182 (gain of 5 pounds)
175 - 7 pounds (total 75 pounds) - December 31
165 - 10 pounds (total 85 pounds) - no time limit on that one. It's my ultimate, ultimate goal but I'm in no rush to get there. 175 will feel really good when I hit it.

Exercise Goals:

-Continue running....our pace was 10, 1, 10, 1, 8.5, 1, 2 (almost died at the end!). I would like to work up to running the 5k without stopping.
-Strength train my legs....they need it! I need to get back into my leg exercises from physio so I don't have knee problems down the road. This is a must!
-I still struggle with consistency and not becoming complacent after getting married. I need to keep going!

Feel good Goals:
Wow so many of my feel good goals have come true. It's so exciting. Still to do...
-Buy a size 12 pant and fit in to it....my ultimate goal would be a 10, anything less than that is just bizarre!

9/4/10 - Wedding Day
Current Weight - 177 (2 pounds away but didn't care!!)

8/14/10 - 3 weeks til the wedding

It's been a while since I've updated this page. I wish I could say I've reached my goal, but I haven't. 4 pounds in 5 months. Yikes! But that's still 4 pounds gone forever!! And I'm within 5 pounds of my goal and 3 weeks to lose it in.....it CAN be done!

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 178.8 (within 4 pounds!)
175 - 4 pounds (total 75 pounds) - September 4 (wedding day!)
Now if only I could spot train! My outfit needs weight loss in my hips...just the hips!! lol

Exercise Goals:

-Continue running....I'm currently at run 6 mins/walk 1 min....and it's tough! I still want to be able to run outside more...it's still mostly treadmill. I want to work up to a 5k run.
-Consistency is the name of the game and not becoming complacent.....big goal I want to work on.....I can't use the excuse, well I'm so close to my goal I can skip the exercise tonight....nope, I can't! (only 4 pounds in 5 months....and that's how it happens!....well, that, and weekend binges :p)

Feel good Goals:
Buy a size 12 pant and fit in to it....my ultimate goal would be a 10, anything less than that is just bizarre!
Look hot in my wedding outfit....we're pretty close to that goal.
Run that 5K with my gf....we're looking at late summer or fall.
Deal with my family crap effectively so I can live my life the best way possible (definitely post-wedding).

4/09/10 - 35 years old plus 2 days

What a month and a bit! I've had great success in weight loss. I finally started a running program and it was just the kick start I needed to get back on track. Just the change and addition of a new exercise is a great way to mix things up and get things charged again. :) My knees are handling it too...I'm glad about that. The wedding plans continue to go fast and furious....we're only 5 months away! (Eeek) I've been consistent and hardcore with the exercise lately and my food intake has been fairly good. I'm going to Winnipeg in May....I'll be so close to goal, I just know it!

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 183 (hoooray!....less than 10 pounds to go!)
180 - 3 pounds (total 70 pounds) - April 30
175 - 5 pounds (total 75 pounds) - May 18 (my first visit to Winnipeg since the summer!)
-I honestly didn't think I'd be this close to meeting these goals as I am.....really looking forward to seeing how this month plays out!
-this may be adjusted when I know when my wedding outfit fitting is.....if I don't meet goal by May 18.

Exercise Goals:

-Keep up with the running....I'm currently at run 2 mins/walk 1 min. I also want to be able to run outside more...it's been ALL treadmill. I did one run outside and had trouble breathing...I wanna work up to it! AND run that 5K.
-Figure out a good schedule! I have so many exercises I want to do. I need to figure out a successful schedule to fit it all in. My pool is finally open again so back at AquaFit this week....gotta fit it in with the running! Plus my new balance ball strength training exercises!
-Continue to bike to work! Round trip is 9.5 km....and I love it!

Feel good Goals:
Buy an outfit at Old Navy.
Buy a size 14 pant and fit in to it!......(SO close...I bought a pair, my hips aren't totally impressed with them yet but I can at least get them on!)
Try on my wedding outfit and find it's too big! Ok that means alterations but I don't care!
Run that 5K with my gf....we're looking at late summer or fall.

2/28/10 - Busy, busy, busy....

It's been a while. I can't believe how extremely busy my life has become. This month has been, not a good one for me in terms of my food intake. My exercise has been pretty good and consistent....I'm thankful for that. The stress of wedding planning, getting in shape, and getting quality friend and partner time has taken it's toll. I'm starting fresh in March.....I need to make more time for Spark, more quiet me time. I want to see the back end of the 180's and not this front end! :) Hey but at least I made it here!

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 189
Under 185 - 4 pounds (total 65 pounds) - March 31
180 - 5 pounds (total 70 pounds) - April 30
175 - 5 pounds (total 75 pounds) - May 18 (my first visit to Winnipeg since the summer!)
-this changes my timeline but I'm ok with it. It's my price to pay for getting off track this month. And a GREAT time to strive for....being at my goal weight when I see Winnipeg again!
-this may be adjusted when I know when my wedding outfit fitting is.....

Exercise Goals:

Consistency! That's the name of the game for me. I've started a running program through physio therapy. I try to go to AquaFit 3 times a week, and still do EA Active in the mornings. To keep this schedule is my goal.
-One day in the future I would love to try P90X!

Feel good Goals:
Buy an outfit at Old Navy.
Buy a size 14 pant and fit in to it!......
Better yet borrow my SISTER'S too big clothes!! (still have to do this..)
Run a 5K with my gf....we're looking at late summer or fall.

12/06/09 - Plateau-ville

So since the end of October I've managed to lose a total of 2 pounds. I guess it would be a plateau but with all the cheating I've done lately, I'd prefer to call it a loss of focus. :) I have to get back on track, modify a few things, and enjoy the holidays. Here's to looking forward to the New Year!! And hey I'm still in Wonderland (woohoo!)

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 196
Under 190 - 6 pounds (total 60 pounds) - still trying for December 31 but more realistically - January 31
180 - 10 pounds (total 70 pounds) - March 15 - my one year Sparkiversary
175 - 5 pounds (total 75 pounds) - April 2010 (my birthday month)

Exercise Goals:

Establish an indoor exercise routine that is as successful as an outdoor one now that winter has set in.
Push-ups......I would like to be able to do some.
Start using the Spark trackers now that plateau land has hit me...am I eating and exercising enough? too much? I'm not sure right now.
Jillian's 45 minute DVD's....wanna get thru those.

Feel good Goals:
Shop in a non-plus size clothes store....Old Navy in particular.
Buy that laptop I'm due since hitting Wonderland!!
Buy a size 14 pant and fit in to it!......
Better yet borrow my SISTER'S too big clothes!! (unheard of situation...)

10/28/09 - hitting Wonderland

I'm down in the 100's this week for the first time in a hugely long time (buying a laptop!!!!!!!). I got here a few years ago on the Curves plan, but, of course, didn't stay. I'm determined to stay this time....build a home, plant an acreage.....and keep going down. So here's an update on my goals:

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 198
Under 190 - 10 pounds (total 60 pounds) - December 31 - would be a first since high school!
(current challenge is to 183 or 25 pounds lost - Dec 31)
175 - 15 pounds (total 75 pounds) - April 2010 (my birthday month)

It's almost like I can see the finish line....it's coming up so fast....less than 25 pounds to go! I have the opportunity to set even further goals. My so-called ideal weight is 155.... It's almost scary to think past 175 though....

Exercise Goals:
Continue walking with the dog daily - increase length gradually (Update: I have to get back in to this routine....being so busy has let it slide a bit).
Continue with running program to run a 5K on Jan 1 2010 (Update: Continue? Yeah, the word is START!)
Develop a strength training program I can stick with - this will be a priority for me when I am under 200 (Update: EA Active saved my butt on this one....I'm sticking with it for a few more months to build up my strength)
Start AquaFit once a week with possible increase to 2 times a week (Update: Am going 2 times a week!!!....possible increase to 3?)
Be able to complete Banish Fat and No More Trouble Zones DVDs. (Update: my sister has borrowed these DVD's...but I realize they would be good for my strength training so am going to work my way back in to Jillian's fold.)

Feel good Goals:
Shop in a non-plus size clothes store. (Update: this is really close for me....and scares the heck out of me. Addition-Elle and Penningtons have been my comfort stores....what if nothing ever fits in a non-plus size store....I can't see myself shopping there yet, but I will one day.)
Walk up the stairs from my basement to the second floor (26 steps) without getting winded (Update: some days yes, some days no...)
Improve my self-esteem and thus improve my communication skills at work and my conversations with friends. (Update: I have a new lead position at work.....looking forward to seeing my progression as I get into it).

9/5/09 - one year to wedding

I wanted to post an update as the one year pre-iversary to my wedding. I'm coming off of 3 days of junk food and goofing off in terms of exercise though....darn vacation. I still feel on track and am looking forward to starting my fall activities. I decided to up some of my goals to go with a few challenges I have joined.

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 208 (give or take a few pounds....see above :}
Under 200 - 10 pounds (total 50 pounds) - some time in October/November
Under 190 - 10 pounds (total 60 pounds) - December 31
(current challenge is to 183 or 25 pounds lost - Dec 31)
175 - 15 pounds (total 75 pounds) - April 2010 (my birthday month)

Exercise Goals:
Continue walking with the dog daily - increase length gradually.
Continue with running program to run a 5K on Jan 1 2010.
Develop a strength training program I can stick with - this will be a priority for me when I am under 200.

Be able to complete Banish Fat and No More Trouble Zones DVDs.

Wow! I look at my April goals now and realize I have the potential to do so much more than I ever anticipated. I'm an exercise fiend, I've met such wonderful new friends and am co-leader of 2 Spark teams. I can't wait to see what the future will bring next! So, finally, an update to my goals.....

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 220
Under 210 - 10 pounds (total 40 pounds) - End of summer 2009
Under 200 - 10 pounds (total 50 pounds) - December 2009
Under 190 - 10 pounds (total 60 pounds) - April 2010 (my birthday month)
175 - 15 pounds (total 75 pounds) - End of August 2010

Exercise Goals:
Continue walking with the dog daily.
Attempt running!
Develop a strength training program I can stick with.
Continue doing the 30 Day Shred.
Be able to complete Banish Fat and No More Trouble Zones DVDs.
Finally get out the bike, darn it!!!!
Join a gym one day (the new Wii Fit made this less of a priority)
Pump up my hand weights to 5 pounds then 10 (see above).

Feel good Goals:
Shop in a non-plus size clothes store.
Walk up the stairs from my basement to the second floor (26 steps) without getting winded.
Hear 'You've lost weight', over and over again....esp. on a trip home to Winnipeg.

Hmm....after all that, I wonder if I am still underestimating myself? I know I want to blow these out of the water. We'll wait and....see?.....no!....watch me do it!

4/1/09

I decided I need to put all my goals down where I can see them and remember them to stay focused. My focus is good so far but one day these will come in handy:

Weight Goals:
Current weight - 238
10% total - 13 pounds - August 2009 - 225
Under 200 - 25 pounds - End of 2009
Under 190 - 10 pounds - April 2010 (my birthday month)
175 - August 2010 - goal weight.

Exercise Goals:
Continue walking with the dog.
Be able to do the 30 Day Shred every second day consistently.
Be able to complete Banish Fat and No More Trouble Zones DVDs.
Get out the bike and bike the River Valley trails during the summer weekends.
Join a gym and use an eliptical.
Pump up my hand weights to 5 pounds then 10.

Feel good Goals:
Get out of a sitting position without feeling like an 80 year old.
Shop in a non-plus size clothes store.
Be able to wear my gf's shirts (her pants are too short!)
Be able to wear my 'Yukon Girls Kick Ass' sweatshirt again....along with all my souvenir T-shirts.
Walk up the stairs from my basement to the second floor (26 steps) without getting winded.
Hear 'You've lost weight', over and over again....esp. on a trip home to Winnipeg.
Go out to eat at a restaurant and realize it is a HUGE treat.

That'll do for now....scary and motivating all at the same time!

3/16/09-ish

Ok, I'm back again. I get annoyed with always hearing the phrase 'Starting again', or 'Back on the Wagon', or 'Finally getting serious'. Like I wasn't serious before? I always have been and it's what I'm always thinking about so I'm not 'starting again', I'm merely upping my focus. :)

I live in Edmonton AB with my partner and our animals. I've always been overweight, and it runs in the family, so there you go. I am choosing to focus on the Spark pages and not the scale. I have a long ways to go until I reach my first goal, but my main goal is to get healthy and live well. Try to make certain practises routine instead of having to think too hard about them.

It'll happen, I just have to be patient. My goal.....to be healthy and gorgeous for my September 2010 wedding. :)

My Program:
I currently, for exercise bike and run as I can (injuries). I have started, through physio, leg/core strengthening exercises. I've tried to fit my exercise to my schedule....and believe these are things I can do for life.

I currently, for food, eat as healthy as I can 3 meals and 2 snacks a day, eliminate eating out, and don't eat after the dinner meal.

Personal Information:
I'm Kelly from Edmonton, AB, originally from Winnipeg, MB. I live with my partner of 7 years and our animals (2 cats and a dog). We were married on Sept 4, 2010...looking amazing on that day was my first goal and I did it. Now to reach goal weight.... :)

Other Information:
I love movies too much! I have a whole treasure trove of useless movie trivia in my head. I'm a sucker for a fun evening with friends around some board games/Wii games. I read when I can. I don't watch too much TV, but the Biggest Loser has me hooked every Tuesday. I love Geocaching with my partner and enjoying the adventures that it brings. I love my Spark friends and am so grateful for your support!
