Hi, my name is Kim. I love Sparkpeople, and I visit it everyday.

I am an avid fitness enthusiast. I have been involved in fitness for 30 years (starting with aerobics) and started running over 25 years ago. I've run marathons, 25K races, half marathons and all distances down to 5K roadraces. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer (American Council on Exercise) in Riverview, Michigan.

Sparkpeople provides me with a great deal of sound, verifiable information that helps me personally and professionally.

On a personal note, I gain inspiration from the groups in Sparkpeople. I have specific personal goals (and health challenges) and find valuable information from other members of the Sparkpeople community - and I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart.

My Goals:
Run the Half Marathon on April 2, 2011 (accomplished).

Work on lowering my LDL level. My HDL's are great, but my doctor said I need to lower LDL's.

My next long-run goal is Half Marathon in Fort Lauderdale in November.

My Program:
Cut out fatty red meats, especially any pork product (I am an animal rights person, and I abhore the warehousing of pigs for slaughter).

Focus in eating more raw fruits and vegetables (50% of plate for these products, 25% of plate for protein, and 25% of plate for grains).

Daily exercise of running, walking, resistance training, and/or flexibility sessions.

Personal Information:
I am still battling the 5-10 pounds I put on this winter... working on the longer-term solution. I am tired of the quick fixes. They are temporary and frustrating because I always end up where I began. I want to move the needle gradually to where I want to be.

Other Information:
You are only a failure if you never try.

No one is perfect. The highest we can achieve as individuals is to try to do and be our best.
