The weight loss journey is an every day struggle, at least for me. When I joined spark back in May 2008, I weighed 220.5 lbs. I had managed to get down to 138 in 2009, but have gained some of it back due to a less active lifestyle and poorer eating habits. I know I have come along way from where I started, even after having gained some of it back, but I am just not happy with myself right now. My clothes barely fit anymore, my tummy bulges over my pants when I sit down, and I find myself feeling self-conscious about my appearance in a way similar to when I was 220.

I know that a major struggle in my life is the lack of time. While I don't have any kids, I have been working on a professional certification that takes at least 3 years to complete and demands at least 10-12 study hours/week for 9 months of the year. Thankfully, I am in my final year of the program, assuming I pass my exam in a few months. Between work, studying, and maintaining a house, my workout time has really suffered.

I have tracked my calories practically every day for the past 7 years, but have found myself getting lazy or cheating in my calorie counting (by not counting that tbsp of oil I used to cook my food in). I just joined a Weight Watchers group at work (my sister is doing it too, which will be extra motivation) and am excited about the program because it forces me to look at food differently, not just by calories, and steers me toward making more healthful choices. I can honestly say that I don't like "healthful" eating, and when I was solely counting calories, I would have the same junk I ate before, but just less of it. The way WW is set up encourages you to eat the more healthful foods and has really opened my eyes to all the fat and crap I was eating before. I'm only in my first week, but I'm really liking it so far. I'll keep you updated on how it goes!

PS. I'm sorry I do such a horrible job getting on spark. I sit in front of a computer all day so I hate doing so when I get home--aside from paying bills, I can easily go weeks without even getting on a computer in my personal time.
