Mandy's Manifest
I've struggled with my weight my whole life and am finally to the point where I'm not concerned with a magic number on the scale but want to be healthy and have a good quality, long life. My partner and I live in Kansas City, MO where I work for a well known non-profit. We're making plans for a trip to Yosemite National Park for our 15th anniversary in 2014 and her dream is to hike halfdome - and I plan on keeping up with her!

My Goals:
To look, feel and BE healthier; to manage my binge behaviors and deal with the underlying causes; to get to a reasonable BMI
My Program:
I've been here, left for a while, came back, left again, and now I'm back again with a goal to lose weight and get myself in shape. I'm not a huge fan of exercise but keep trying to find something I enjoy and can do regularly. After previous successes with low carb dieting, I'm doing the South Beach way of life.
Personal Information:
Currently living in Kansas City, Missouri, I'm not really from the midwest. I grew up moving a lot but went to jr high and high school in New Jersey so I feel like a Yankee at heart. I like KC a lot and have a job I love. I'm happily partnered, have 2 cats, and have a variety of interests including reading, hiking, geocaching, cooking, singing, and hanging out with good friends.
Other Information:
I'm somewhat of a social activist, particularly for peace and justice issues (coming out of my theological background) and I love to travel. The picture on this page is actually from a seminary trip to the Amazon - one of my favorite trips of all time.
