First Half Marathon Ran - 10-15-11 - Official half marathon time 2 hours 43 min 2 seconds! I did better than any of my goals! Woo Hoo!

Get a Pedometer and Use It! Compete against yourself daily!

On June 5th, 2007 I weighed in at 167 pounds and was not happy with the way I looked or felt, and I couldn't walk the half mile around the block without breathing problems and constantly having to stop. I had multiple medical issues and I needed to change my life.

On June 5th, 2008 I weighed in almost 30 pounds less, have reduced the number of meds I am on by half, regularly walk/exercise an equivalent of 12,000 - 15,000 steps a day (can even walk 10 miles in one afternoon), and look a lot nicer.

On October 7th, 2011 I weighed in at 129.6 � I MET MY GOAL !!! My girls got me into running this year and have been doing 5k�s and other races. I tested myself and ran a 10k in decent time. I�ve found that I can run/walk more than enough to do a half marathon � which I am signed up to run this weekend, October 15th!

A nice side benefit of doing this for myself is that my family and friends joined me on my journey and they are healthier as a result.

When I turned the big 4-0, I felt like I was pushing retirement.

MY GIFT TO YOU - Knowledge ... people who continually say they can't lose weight because they are too busy with their lives or don't have enough money will hopefully learn from me that:

** The more you focus on making yourself healthy, the more time, energy, and focus you can give to your loved ones
** Step, step, step � park farther away, walk to dinner, walk in place on conference calls � push yourself
** Sodium � keep it low � Sodium keeps your body from getting rid of water weight and keeps you bloated
** Water � Buy a water bottle and keep refilling it � 10-12 glasses a day! Remember, the more you run to the bathroom, the more steps you are adding to your day. Plus it keeps you from feeling hungry.
** Fiber � Shoot for 35g of fiber a day, they help keep you full and keep your system from storing toxic waste.

My 1st 6 months on SparkPeople - I lost 13% of my body weight!!! Go Me!

10,000 Baby Steps ... They still count as steps!!

Did you know that in Roman Numerals the number 40 is equal to XL? I may be saying hello to 40, but my goal is to say good bye to XL! -- Goodbye XL ... I am 40 wearing size 4/6 pants and medium tops!!! I did it! And will continue!
