4/2/2013 I became a member of the SparkPeople community on January 2, 2011. I've gained and lost a lot of weight over the years and as soon as I got to the finish line, I turn right around and find my way back to the starting point. It's like Bill Murray in that movie "Groundhog Day," destined to relive the same day and experiences over and over again. I've been riding this merry-go-round for too long and it's time to get off. 4/2/2013 I became a member of the SparkPeople community on January 2, 2011. I've gained and lost a lot of weight over the years and as soon as I got to the finish line, I turn right around and find my way back to the starting point. It's like Bill Murray in that movie "Groundhog Day," destined to relive the same day and experiences over and over again. I've been riding this merry-go-round for too long and it's time to get off. To accomplish this I have to reread blogs and articles, join new challenges, go back to tracking meals and finding ways to get back on my journey. The question is am I determined and committed enough to make it happen? If the answer is "no," then why not? I am so inspired by the stories I read here from members who find success despite so many other challenges and obstacles they face. I have no real challenges or obstacles preventing me from reaching my goals except the ones I always create for myself. What is my key to permanent weight loss and a healthy lifestyle? If I drew two columns on a piece of paper and ask myself to list all the reasons NOT to lose weight on the right side of the page, that side of the page would be pretty empty. To stop the merry-go-round I need to pay attention to the left side of the page - read and reread, understand, focus and follow through. I can make the necessary changes if I really want to make them happen. The only real limitations are the ones I set for myself. So with the continued help on Spark and a real desire to make permanent changes, I can stop riding that same old tired merry-go-round and finally move on to something that will give me the ride of a lifetime. I'll be working to make that happen this year.

My Goals:
Longterm and Overall Goals: -- To maintain my weight once I reach my goal. No reason to gain back all that weight again and more. -- Add exercise to my weight loss program. Get off the couch and leave the remote behind. -- Finally realize that I am steering this ship and I am in control. What I choose to eat and if I do or don't follow a healthy lifestyle is up to me and I can do it! -- If I slip off the horse then get right back on. Eating a few extra calories does not have to turn into a 3-day splurge.
My Program:
-- I am following a low fat, low calorie and mostly low carb meal plan. -- Making better choices for meals and snacks. -- Trying to exercise more and step it up. -- Getting lots of ideas and support from Spark!
