Catching my stride *again* .... Commit & Stick To It....
Self-acceptance comes from meeting life's challenges vigorously. Do not numb yourself to your trials and difficulties, nor build mental walls to exclude pain from your life. You will find peace not by trying to escape your problems, but by confronting them courageously. You will find peace not in denial, but in victory. ~Swami Sivananda (1887-1963) Aloha- Living in Hawaii is fabulous, but (and that's a BIG okole) I fell into the eternal ...
~Swami Sivananda (1887-1963) Aloha- Living in Hawaii is fabulous, but (and that's a BIG okole) I fell into the eternal vacation mode: have fun, eat lots & worry about it tomorrow. Tomorrow has come, gone and passed several times over. In the 9+ years I've lived here, I gained 65 (or so) pounds on top of the 30lbs (or so) already hanging around. These days getting in the ocean is no longer fun.......because trying to haul my big okole OUT of the ocean is getting more and more difficult! No kidding. It makes no sense to let the extra poundage stop me from living a long, healthy, happy and active life in these beautiful surroundings. SParked my way down to 212 and then totally lost sight of the prize at the end if the rainbow. Yes, in 2010 I had a major relationship end, numerous injuries and several illnesses which took time to recover from (not to mention the dreaded onset of perimonopause - yikes and horrible!) 2011 was a blur. 2012 was a mixed bag BUT discovered BLC!! Now it's January 2013! Where in the world has the time gone? Sure, I can moan, whine and complain about my body; however, in the end, I'm the one who made the choices and the one who is now in charge of making the better more healthy decisions. I've known for years what it takes to be healthy and it's way past time to COMMIT AND STICK TO IT!!! At nearly 6 feet tall, I'll never be a small petite flower and that is not even what I'm shooting for! I love the idea of being curvalicious (as opposed to lumpy, bumpy & frumpy). Somewhere around a size 16 is a real and reachable goal which can also be maintained. Not sure what the actual number for goal weight is, however as I dive into one-derland and see how things are going, I'll figure it out...185 is an educated guess at best! Things that Work for me: **Low Carb, moderate protein. **Count those carbs! **Measure and weigh everything (especially The Cheese) **Go veggie once a week! Eat tofu! Save a chicken! **Have bottle of water on the desk next to the computer. Drink and blog, drink and log. Drink and drive (water! you know what I mean). **Veggies are very portable...and the original fast food! **Pack dinner lefties after dinner for lunch the next day. **Plan meals ahead! THAW meats the day before, use the dry erase board to list lefties, 2B cooked & thawing food. **Routinely clean out the pantry and fridge, donate. Stuff mysteriously makes it into the house. Wah? How does that happen? 290 - Heaviest 4/01/08 (though, probably more) 278 - Joined SP 5/28/08 261 - Jun 16, 2008 247 - August 08 , 2008 234 - October 15, 2008 222 - September 09, 2009 222 - January 10, 2010 213 - April 28, 2010 222 - August 11, 2010 ~~~ 247 - January 1st, 2011 236 - February 18, 2011 (Started new meds mid March). 250 - April 21, 2011 245 - May 20, 2011 245 - July 1, 2011 241 - September 21, 2011 239 - December 11, 2011 ~~~ 239 - January 1, 2012 236 - February 1, 2012 238 - March 17, 2012 238 - June 6, 2012 236 - July 27, 2012 233 - October 3, 2012 (Major medication change end of Oct.) 245 - December 31, 2012 ~~~ 244 - January 18, 2013

My Goals:
Weight loss of over 100 pounds...wow, how did I get here? This is such an overwhelming number to comprehend! I will not focus on the big number. Shooting for small 3% - 4% goals at a time. Ultimately, it's about leading a healthier, more active lifestyle ...and I also want to be happy.
My Program:
Doing intentional fitness as well as those little 2-3-4 or 5 minute GOYBAD's several times a day. Low Carb, eating as few processed foods possible, plenty veggies, more nutritionally sound meals. Also concentrating on improving the mental and emotional parts of who I am : ) : It's not all about food and exercise! Keep it simple! A simple random act of kindness each day...goes a long way.
Personal Information:
I have lived on Kauai since July 23, 2003 and can not imagine living anywhere else on earth! Kauai is beautiful, stunning, breath taking, awesome...and expensive, so I'd better get back to work! ASAP! Small business owner, vacation rental industry.
Other Information:
Try going veggie a few meals a week! ......save a chicken! Veggies: the original fast food!
