2014 - A whole new year

Working on my health at the moment!

Worked very hard this year - did a very restrictive diet to eliminate allergens from my diet. I discovered quite a bit about myself: what foods I'm sensitive to, that I really CAN cook, and how much will power I have in me (a LOT).

At the moment, I'm eating fairly average again, just avoiding my sensitivity foods. Taking a break from the real restrictions until I can meet with a new dietitian, maybe in early October.

Brief background:
I had my growth spurt early, and was always bigger than most of my friends. Big boned girls don't have it easy, and good eating habits were not part of my life. But for the most part, high school wasn't too bad. I was probably in the 140s. College was bad, because I didn't know how to cook and the food started sticking more. I was up and down the scale varying from 140s to 160s. @age 20 I was about 165, then slimmed down. Lowest as adult was probably 148 @ 21 or 22.

Now I am in my late 20s and cooking is still not my forte and snacks are my indulgence. I wasn't paying any attention at all to my eating and I got up to 178 @ end of 2009. I was ready to get serious about starting the better eating habits. I knew I couldn't quit cold turkey, so I am slowly incorporating healthier habits into my life, and some of the unhealthy stuff is slipping away unnoticed. And it's ok!

I'm on the journey.

Your body is a work in progress. My son has a different ailment than yours but food is key to his day to day success. Dairy, soy and gluten(actually most grains) are all problematic for him. We have found that helping his liver with some milk thistle, his kidney with cranberry and taking a probiotic have all aided his journey back into health. He is good with taking all the above in a a capsule form so it's pretty painless.

Thanks for posting on my blog!
My skin would break out at my TOM, but I never noticed bumps like these before...at least not in response to foods I've eaten. I don't know if that's a good or bad thing :-) Maybe I got them before and now I'm more on the lookout for them.
When I have a new food, I pay more attention to how my body reacts, whereas before I just ignored the signs.
