2015 is flying by!

Working on my digestive health at the moment!

I have IBS with a fructose malabsorption. I eat a restricted diet, but I'm focusing on eating whole foods, avoiding processed items and cooking delicious foods.

I aim to keep my fiber high, my carbs low (not super low) and everything else somewhere in between.

GW - 145

Brief background:
I had my growth spurt early, and was always bigger than most of my friends. Big boned girls don't have it easy, and good eating habits were not part of my life. But for the most part, high school wasn't too bad. I was probably in the 140s. College was bad, because I didn't know how to cook and the food started sticking more. I was up and down the scale varying from 140s to 160s. @age 20 I was about 165, then slimmed down. Lowest as adult was probably 148 @ 21 or 22.

In my late 20s cooking was still not my forte and snacks my indulgence. I wasn't paying any attention at all to my eating and I got up to 178 @ end of 2009. I was ready to get serious about starting the better eating habits. I knew I couldn't quit cold turkey, so I slowly incorporated healthier habits into my life, and some of the unhealthy stuff is slipping away unnoticed. And it's ok!

I'm on the journey.

It looks like we have a fair amount in common, at least hobby-wise. I also love Star Trek: The Next Generation, dystopian novels, hiking and cooking.

I'm sorry you have IBS though. That probably sucks but I guess as long as you're good food-wise, it's mostly manageable?

I have an autoimmune disease, too (rheumatoid autoimmune disease). I know it's not the same but it is chronic and is best managed by activity.

If you want to friend me on GoodReads, I responded to your SparkMail with it and I've also added you as a friend here.

Have a great day!

Thanks for the comment on my page. I really liked your quote you posted the other day about not being concerned with getting gratitude when helping others.
