I am 35 years old. And I'm still on the journey.

I have two eating challenges in my life.

1. I have digestive issues (IBS, fructose malabsorption, slight lactose intolerance, etc. )

2. The Sugar Monster/Binge Eating Monster tend to take over more often than not

I am working on both of these issues, and am slowly getting to a better place in my life. I am so much better than where I was 3 years ago, and ridiculously better than 10 years ago.

Brief background:
I had my growth spurt early, and was always bigger than most of my friends. Big boned girls don't have it easy, and good eating habits were not part of my life. But for the most part, high school wasn't too bad. I was probably in the 140s. College was bad, because I didn't know how to cook and the food started sticking more. I was up and down the scale varying from 140s to 160s. @age 20 I was about 165, then slimmed down. Lowest as adult was probably 148 @ 21 or 22.

In my late 20s cooking was still not my forte and snacks my indulgence. I wasn't paying any attention at all to my eating and I got up to 178 @ end of 2009. I was ready to get serious about starting the better eating habits. I knew I couldn't quit cold turkey, so I slowly incorporated healthier habits into my life, and some of the unhealthy stuff is slipping away unnoticed. And it's ok!

4. Lower fat and lower carb

My Program:
Workouts with my buddy 3-4 times per week.

Yoga, hiking and walking on my own.

Rock climbing twice a month.

Strength training as much as possible!

Jan 10- Apr 10 - 4th place in my school's version of "The Biggest Loser." Lost 14lbs. or 8.14%

BLC13 - lost 7lbs or 4.45% (4th place for my team!)

BLC14 - no loss

BLC15 - 7.2lbs lost

BLC 25 - maintained

BLC 26 +1 or 2

BLC 27

Highest loss to date: 35 pounds

    Hey there! Checking back in after a very long absence... life has taken some challenging turns and my attention has been elsewhere. I saw your message on my page, and wanted to return a note. Hope you are doing well, I know you've been working hard on yourself. That's sometimes all we can manage in the moment. Never lose sight of the fact that you can do anything you choose to do- you have the power within and although sometimes we give in to cravings, or negative emotions, those are the 'temporaries' in life. The permanent things are inner strength, a good and generous heart, and an attitude of gratitude. You have all of those things! Thanks for checking in, letting me know I was in your thoughts.
