My name is Katrina. I live in Thorndike, Maine. I belong to TOPS *taking off pounds sensibly*. I started at 240 lbs. in August 2007, and am currently 197 lbs.
I really need more support so I can loose all of the 2nd half of my weight. I fell off the wagon and gained 15 lbs. Now I am ready to be serious about it. It was a lot of stress I was putting on myself and I had to stop going to weigh ins every week and stick to a once a month thing.
I have been 10-15 lbs. overweight most of my teenage and college years. I didn't really begin packing on the lbs. until I moved in with my now husband when I was 20. I did really good at 1st because I had a job where I was moving all the time. I started in a size 10 jeans. Then upped to a 12, then when I got my desk job it went to a 14. I loved trying all the different kinds of junk food because I was never allowed that kind of food as a child. I have always eaten my vegetables with lunch and dinner, but I was eating greasy and high fat food with them.
Even when we got engaged I had no desire to loose weight for our wedding......I was 230 lbs. when we got married. I thought I was beautiful and wasn't going to starve myself just to look like all the white dressed brides out there.
It wasn't until we decided to have our 1st child that I began to loose weight. I thought that it was important to eat healthy for a baby that would soon grow in my belly. I lost 15 lbs. I had topped 235 and weighed 217 at my 1st prenatal appointment...I was 24 at the time. After I had Adrianna in February of 2001 is when I knew that I had to loose weight so I could be a good mother. I very slowly started loosing weight. I only lost 7 lbs. that year. Then, by the fall of 2003 I was down to 184 lbs.! It was a very exciting time for me. We had bought our 1st house the year before. I was staying home with Adrianna until January of 2003 when I started work again.
We loved the idea of having a 2nd child and with a 2nd pregnancy comes indulging......for some reason. My starting weight for child #2 was 196 lbs. Much better than the 1st. I was a lot more baby belly than belly fat. Summer Rose came into the world and it was a roller coaster in our lives. We decided to sell and move out of state back with family. I only went back to work for a month so I didn't leave my boss high and dry. Now the pregnancy weight had come off fast before the move. I was down to 210 lbs. by my 2 week visit after the baby. Then we had moved in with my husband's parents while our house was being built. They have tons of junk food and high fat stuff. They are small people who have amazing willpower which I don't. They also let good food go to waste and I always felt a need to eat the leftovers so it wouldn't go bad. Another unhealthy train of though. I had gained 15 lbs. in 2 months. I lost that 15 lbs. in 4 months, but then I had a devastating turn of events. My Mother had died in a car accident.
It was the unthinkable that happened in 2006....the things you hear on t.v., in the newspapers, in the movies, but never think they will happen to you. It was a horrible time in my life, and I still have days and days that are hard. The only thing that eventually pulled me through was seeing a therapist. That woman was a miracle for me. I finally had got to a point that I was ready to let go of food and start the weight loss journey once again. I started TOPS, July 31, 2007. My beginning weight was 240 lbs.
Someday I will post more of the road trip from the day my Mom died until I was able to loose again. It was a very dark road at 1st. My anxiety attacks, anger, frustration, and leaning on food.
For me, I feel weak when I turn to food. I am not strong enough to turn away and that is when I give in. When I am a warrior I do not overeat. When I am weak and give up, I overeat. We are only meant to eat enough to survive and maintain our healthy bodies. Anything extra is overeating and weakness. That is my take on it for me. I do not judge anyone. I believe we are all here to support each other. :)
my TOPS goal is 160 lbs. set by my doctor.
my sparks goal is 150 lbs.
my current short term goal is to reach 180 lbs. to my 60 lb. loss charm.
1200-1400 calorie plan.
low fat dairy
low fat protein
tons of fruits/veggies
exercise every day if possible.
33 years old, 5'8" tall.
I love heavy metal music, but I also listen to low key female music, and classical. Whatever release I need, that kind of music goes on :)e

I'm glad your feeling good! Wow...That's great 3-5 times a week work out, keep up that great work, and I'm sure you'll break the plateau! I always had the best success when I was dieting, working out, and drinking a ton of water.
Good news is 3 months ago, I gave up diet pepsi, and now drink, mostly all water. Haven't had the nerve to give up my morning coffee yet.
