Like many other Sparkers out there, I have struggled with weight my entire life. I've always known I need to try to lose weight, but I never had the proper motivation. As I've gotten "older," I have come to realize that this is my life, and this is the only body God is going to bless me with. If I don't take the time to take care of it, then I won't be here for long.
My motivation for losing weight isn't just looking good (though that will be a definite plus); it's for reasons like being able to walk up a flight of stairs without being winded, and being able to play with my niece and nephews for more than 5 minute stretches.
I've literally been over weight since I can remember. I remember in elementary sitting beside a girl who was older than me, and realizing (and being ashamed) that my legs were fatter than hers. I was an active child and teen, and even played varsity sports, but my weight has held me back from being the best I could be.
After literally a lifetime of battling it, I decided I am finally TRULY ready to change my life. I am not going on a diet; I am changing the way I look at what I eat, how active I am, and life in general.
I started this journey January 1, 2010 at 290 pounds and I know I've got a long way to go, but I know with God's help and determination, I will make my goal of being a healthier, happier person!

My Goals:
Ultimately, I want to be under 140 pounds (that would put me in the "healthy" BMI Range).
In 2010 (my first year of weightloss), I started at 290 and ended the year at 207.

This year I'd like to lose an average of 5 pounds per month.

My Program:
When I started, I completely changed the way I look at food and what I put in my body. My body is God's temple, and I need to take care of it.
I try to eat only what's necessary and really do my best not to overeat.

Before I got married, I dedicated nearly all my free time to working out. Now, I get up around 6am to get in at least 1/2 hour workout.

Personal Information:
I am from the great state of Texas, and like any true Texan, I am proud of my roots!

    Hi Katrina,

Thanks for visiting and commenting on my page. I added you as a friend so we can be an encouragement to each other. I wish you the best on this health journey. You are worth it! And you're right, it's not about diet or short-term projects, this needs to become a lifestyle change. I am not convinced I have completely conquered the "mindset shift" yet, but that's the direction I'm headed and I know you are too! Blessings! :)

Thank you so much for the kind words on my blog! I really need to remember to give myself some slack, especially when first starting up again! Eating good is not so hard right now, but exercising I am finding to the most hard to get up and do. I just have to have faith that it eventually I will be back to where I was with it.
