Still living in the vally, geographically, NOT emotionally. Enjoying life in a comfortablecontented way with long time friends and a few very lovely new friends who all enjoy theatre, books, dining out...oooh, that can be a bit troublesome as I am really trying to lose weight and be healthy, so next time I visit my MD he'll 'dance in the hall'; he actually did this several years back when I lowered my cholesterol by changing my diet and losing some weight. Well, it's time to get back on ...

Well, it's time to get back on track and do it again, and this time stay on track. So ready to change my lifestyle.. already changed our home a bit due to ice dam damages so now need to change me..to be more healthy, more active, less sitting and reading...well, am re-reading the Spark and setting new goals and now have the spark cookbook..new recipes, healthy recipes, to try. Feeling positive, content with life but definitely ready for healthy changes.

My Goals:
Have more realistic goals for me:
Lose in a healthy way...20 to 25 pounds, trying for maybe 3 to 4 lbs per month; OR be happy with 1 to 2..it's going off so slowly!.
Do drink 8 glasses of water per day
exercise a min of 15 minutes per day in front of the tv watching the news or NCIS or THE Closer. which I watch in re-runs a lot!
Read at least half an hour a day
Try to write at least an hour three times a week, make that four times per week
go to curves 3 times per week
Have at least one fruit per day
It's a new start..I hate most fruit, love veggies.
Join a church choir and sing this fall..
Do a 5K sometime in the next year!
finish working on my advanced directives! I am always encouraging everyone else to do this, then don't complete mine.

My Program:
Sharing my program both online and with friends..here at home.
Rewards:
3 pounds.. buy a new journal
5 pounds. .. buy another set of Fiesta Ware..love all the colors.
8 pounds..Fresh flowers for me!
10.. go up north and have coffee with friends who live up there, and visit!..
15 More fresh flowers for me..I LOVE fresh cut flowers.
20..stop in at the Dress Barn and 'shop' for a new outfit
25. Get new shoes! even if I don't need them and fresh cut flowers....

Personal Information:
Pretty much retired widow who lives with two female cats, has lived in the Midwest all my life, still dream of winters in Arizona but so far that hasn't happened. Am beginning to enjoy traveling more, with long time friends. Love to read, enjoy writing but have a hard time getting started at times.


Other Information:
Love poetry, TC the calico cat; Boris the gray cat..very shy.thus no photo yet! people who are inspiring such as Susan Boyle who amazed even the judges; mysteries, PBS programs including the Brit sitcoms and mystery theatre; Anything Judi Dench is in, including James bond films. Love to iron on rainy days, bake bread when it snows, go barefoot in the yard and garden, get my hands into the dirt in the gardens,

Thank you for the Goodie!

The background photo on my Spark Page is from the Mall in Washington D.C. It's the memorial for the Korean War. It's my favorite set of statues because so many different soldiers' faces are depicted in the setting, tableau, sculpture, however it can be defined, from the many different countries who fought in the Korean War. It's realistic to me and I love it even though it's obviously a battle scene. My son will graduate from American University next May. When I last visited him we went walking on the Mall, which is when I took the picture. Thanks for noticing it!

It definitely will take time to figure out how to make bread properly. Since I know how to make frosting from scratch, which can be touchy due to heat and humidity, then I figure I can handle bread too. One issue I'm having is that the maintenance guy fixed the oven and it's cooking thins too quickly instead of too shortly. Plus I got some ceramic bread pans from my Cooking Club membership, so I was using those. It takes a different touch to use ceramic pans...

Fresh bread is a weakness of mine too.
