On January 18, 2010 I signed up for SP; I thought I was joining a diet community. For me, it has been so much more. In Fast Track I made small changes right away. I've grown to love drinking my water, making my lunch and taking my walk! The more I participated the more I realized that I was not here to diet, but to make a lifestyle change and that I didn't really care how long it took.
I am working on moving more, counting my steps...and eating mindfully. I've discovered that I am not a snacker, which I always thought I was, but mainly that I just eat too much when I do eat! I am adjusting to reduced portions and to not eating my favorite foods that often. I'm loading up on the vegetables, which have always been my favorite!
But mostly...these simple steps have yielded results, not as dramatic as some...but slowly and steadily my goal will be accomplished. Isn't that just grand?

Goals.
...drink water, water, water
...do strength training
...walk the dog at least once per day
...do an exercise video three times per week
...continue to eat fresh foods
...be vigilant about portion size
...eat GREEN, GREEN, GREEN


My Program:
Slow and steady. I want to be healthier, sleep better, have more energy.



Personal Information:
I love labs.

Barks is my second...and he was acquired through the labs4rescue group two years ago. He was found as a stray...and was/is 6 to 8 years old.
The folks that run that group are a pretty inspiring group also...take a look at their site, labs4rescue.com. They do a fantastic job of providing an adopter with detailed info on each dog.

I'd do it again!!!!


Other Information:
I set my weight loss goal at 20 pounds, but actually want to lose more than double that. Losing just 10% of my weight will yield health benefits, so made that my first goal!

    Hi KatieGlen- I love your profile picture.The veggies look so fresh, they actually make my mouth water when I see the photo. (Wow you are either a good photographer, gardener or BOTH! emoticon ) How are you? It's been raining but I managed to get in a ride today. I really think that I am a cyclist. It was windy, blustery, cold and I got sprinkled on during the route back. I still had a great ride. With these short days (as you know more than me) any day you can ride is a good ride. emoticon Next week is a short one for me with holiday and all.     Hi KatieGlen--Hope that you are well. Are you still riding? I went to Biketober fest last weekend (think German Octoberfest ...beer, oompah music and bikes). It was so much fun with ALL types of cyclists, roadies, mountain bikers, cyclocross, vintage cruisers... One mountain bike guy even had a helmet with a blue mohawk glued to the top?!? I got lost on the route a lot but met a bunch of great cyclists and still managed to ride with my club at the end of the day.
    It's raining here so I am back in the gym kickboxing and lifting. But I am planning to break out my bike trainer. I hope that you are well. Catch you soon. -RB1
