It's Time for a Change!

I've always been a bit heavier than I've wanted to be. In the past couple of weeks I've noticed that I've gotten chunkier and that my clothes don't fit like they used to. I've recently started to eat clean and to eat much more fruits and veggies, quit drinking my beloved Diet Coke and have taken up running again. I ran the Chicago Rock n Roll Half Marathon in 2010. I thought running would solve my fitness and self-perception issues, but it didn't. I realized later that strength training is ...
I realized later that strength training is extremely important to losing inches and being fit. Now that I have this information, I'm hoping that I can put everything together and work toward losing a good 20-30 pounds.

The photo of myself here was taken on October 9, 2011. I'm horrified by how large my arm looks (clearly I am the one on the left lol), and I'm keeping this photo up here until I see some improvement!

I still have a lot to learn about this site and how to navigate it, and I need to start using more than just the fitness tracker feature.

My goals are to integrate working out into my daily routine, eating more fruits and veggies, and developing more self confidence as I reach my goals. I am also hoping that this will lead to a reduction in my daily stress level (which is very high for no good reason!!).

A little bit about my personal life ... I work in property management, have a beautiful 4 year old daughter, and have been a type 1 diabetic for 23 years. It looks like the diabetes group here is geared more toward type 2 diabetics. One of the struggles I encounter while working out is controlling my blood sugars and preventing the lows which force me to consume more food (typically sugars, which I'm trying to avoid). It's hard to maintain that balance.

Thanks for reading about me!
